People thronged banks of Yamuna River in Varanasi and women were seen performing rituals and praying to the holy river. The festival is celebrated with much gaiety and enthusiasm across the country. Sisters keep fast for their brothers on this auspicious occasion. This festival comes during the holy month of Kartik.
