Mumbai, Oct 24 (ANI): Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale, who met Uddhav Thackeray on Friday, said the Shiv Sena is ready to form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for government formation in Maharashtra. Athawale further said that he has requested the Shiv Sena supremo to forget the past and take decisions in favour of the people of Maharashtra. The BJP and Shiv Sena had parted ways ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls over seats sharing. The BJP had emerged as the single-largest party in Maharashtra winning 122 of the 288 seats. Presently, the ITBP is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3,488 km of Indo-China border and manning Border Outposts on altitudes raging from 9000' to 18700' in the Western, Middle and Eastern Sector of the Indo-China border. The ITBP is a specialized mountain force and most of the officers are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. Goddess Kali is the chief deity worshipped with grandeur by the people of Tripura and in West Bengal on the occasion of Diwali (festival of lights). Residents of bordering villages thronged the temple in Agartala and worshipped Goddess Kali according to the rituals and made assortment of religious offerings to the Hindu goddess. Venkaiah Naidu wields broom to clean cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Oct 24 (ANI): Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, on Friday picked up the broom to clean cyclone-hit port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cleanliness campaign. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha were recently hit by cyclone Hudhud that left a trail of destruction and killed around 41 people. It ripped apart tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes, flattened rice, banana and sugarcane plantations and snapped electricity lines. Prime Minister Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan' or Clean India Mission. On Friday, Naidu said Mahatma Gandhi had made inspiring statement that "cleanliness is next to godliness." To drive home his point, Modi had ordered government workers including his ministers to participate in the drive.
