Snooping Row: BJP defends Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): Responding to the allegations by suspended IAS official Pradeep Sharma on BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi and his aide Amit Shah over the snooping row, BJP leader Kirti Azad said that it is a conspiracy by the Congress. Azad said that the Congress has tried everything on Narendra Modi through their dirty tricks department. He also said that they are trying to malign the BJP and will find new allegations also, rather than discussing issues like, corruption, inflation, economic crisis and infiltration at borders.

Iran, six world powers clinch breakthrough nuclear deal

Geneva, Nov 24 (ANI): Iran and six world powers reached a breakthrough deal early on Sunday to curb Tehran's nuclear programme in exchange for limited sanctions relief, in what could be the first sign of an emerging rapprochement between the Islamic state and the West. Aimed at ending a dangerous standoff, the agreement between Iran and the United States, France, Germany, Britain, China and Russia was nailed down after more than four days of negotiations in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Results of UN climate talks not satisfying, but acceptable: Chinese official

Warsaw, Nov 24 (ANI): The two-week UN climate negotiations, which aimed to pave the way for a new global climate pact due to be agreed in 2015, came to an end more than 20 hours into extra time on Saturday. China, the world's biggest emitter of carbon dioxide, and India (No. 4) had clashed with the US (No. 2) and other countries earlier Saturday over the wording of draft decisions with guidelines on when countries should present commitments for a new pact to fight climate change. Delegates ultimately adopted an altered text agreed to during added emergency negotiations in the Warsaw National Stadium to avert a breakdown of the UN climate talks.

Top police brass meets in Gaya, discuss strategies to combat Maoists

Gaya, Nov 24 (ANI): Senior police officials conducted a high-level meeting in Gaya district of Bihar to discuss strategies and foster better coordination to wipe out Naxalism from the state. Police as well as paramilitary personnel attended the meet during which officials discussed and deliberated on the ways to combat the rebels to lead to fruitful results. The Maoists, who say they are fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, control some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large swathes of the eastern, central and southern countryside.

Princess of Belgium visits India to strengthen bilateral relation

New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): Princess of Belgium Astrid is visiting New Delhi with a 300-member business delegation to boost trade ties with India. The visit aims to strengthen the relationship with India in diverse sectors, particularly trade and investment. During the visit, Princess Astrid would be meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders of the central government. The delegation would also be visiting India's showbiz capital Mumbai and southern Chennai to explore new areas of trade.

Police arrest suspended TMC leader Kunal Ghosh in Sharda Chit Fund scam

Kolkata, Nov 24 (ANI): Police have arrested suspended TMC lawmaker Kunal Ghosh in West Bengal for his alleged role and conspiracy in the state's multi-billion Sharda chit fund scam. The deputy commissioner added that Ghosh has been charged with IPC sections of 420 cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B conspiracy. Meanwhile, a leader of India's regional Trinamool Congress party, Derek O' Brien said that law should take its course.
