Separatists in Kashmir call for shutdown on Republic Day.

Srinagar, Jan 26 (ANI): Separatists called for a complete shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir on 65th Republic Day on Sunday. The shutdown call was given by hardliner Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and was supported by a host of separatist groups. All shops, business establishments, and the public transport remained shut. Every year the separatists announce shutdown on Republic Day and Independence Day. Meanwhile, heavy security has been deployed in the state to foil any attempt by militants to disturb the Republic day function.

The Padma Bhushan is one of the highest civilian awards of the country, given for distinguished service of high order. Maoists torch trucks in Jharkhand

Gumla /Gaya, Jan 26 (ANI): Maoists torched three trucks in Gumla district of Jharkhand for not paying the levy demanded by them, said drivers. The incident has inflicted fear among the truck drivers, who say no one comes to their rescue to solve their problems. There have been reports of setting trucks ablaze by Maoists in the past.
