TRS Chief meets Rahul Gandhi, fuels speculation about possible alliance

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Chief Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, who spearheaded the Telangana movement, met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday amidst speculations of a merger or alliance between the TRS and Congress ahead of general elections. Meanwhile, Congress leaders from the region also met Sonia Gandhi at her residence putting forth their demands. Congress leader Ganga Bhavani said she was satisfied with the meeting as the Congress chief gave a patient hearing to all her problems and promised concrete action. Omars remark on AFSPA sparks debate among politicos

Srinagar, Jammu, Feb 24 (ANI): J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that he would work for the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that gives security forces sweeping powers to search arrest or shoot people became a point of debate and garnered criticism among political leaders. Commenting on the same, Awami Ittihaad Party President Engineer Rashid, on Monday said that the chief is trying to fool people with these false statements.
