Congress worker celebrates Rahul Gandhi's 44th birthday with fervor

Lucknow, June 19 (ANI): On Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's 44th birthday, Congress leaders and workers celebrated throughout the nation with joy and fervor. Party workers were joyous as they celebrated Gandhi's birthday in the national capital where people danced to drums and enjoyed the birthday cake and also performed religious ritual for the birthday boy. Although Rahul is not in Delhi and travelling abroad, his absence did not deter party supporters from marking their leader's birthday with fanfare. Meanwhile, party leaders in Lucknow cut the cake that weighed 44-kg, corresponding with the age of Gandhi.

Politicos slam BJP for not taking action against Nihal Chand

New Delhi/ Rajasthan, June 19 (ANI): Politicos from opposition parties on Thursday slammed the BJP for remaining silent in the case of junior minister for Chemical and Fertilisers, Nihal Chand. Chand and 17 others were summoned by a district court in Jaipur on June 12 after a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint accusing her husband and his friends including the minister in a sexual assault case.

Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on spreading Encephalitis in Bihar

Harsh Vardhan said that the government has provided all possible help in terms of medical equipment to Bihar and vaccinations will be given to every child in the state. Yashwant Sinha released from jail in Jharkhand

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha was released from jail in Jharkhand on Thursday after he agreed to pay bail on Wednesday. Sinha, was arrested a fortnight ago for inciting a group of BJP workers to tie up an Electricity Board official to protest against a lengthy power crisis in his former constituency of Hazaribagh. He had agreed to apply for bail after senior leader LK Advani visited him in jail to persuade him to file a bail plea. Advani met Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday and asked him to continue his movement against power cuts in Hazaribagh after getting released from jail. Advani had also said that Sinha was capable of being the Jharkhand Chief Minister after his agitation against the power crisis in the state.

Indian organization provides prosthetic limbs to amputees in Afghanistan

Kabul, June 19 (ANI): An Indian organisation gave amputees in Afghanistan a new lease of life by providing them with prosthetic limbs free of charge at a month-long camp in Kabul. A team of 25 artisans from Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) - non-government organisation (NGO) that designs and distributes prosthetic limbs free of charge - provided the victims of landmines and other war-related atrocities with the prosthetic limbs, which is popularly known as the Jaipur foot. The amputees also saw the camp as a display of positive bilateral relationships.

Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt resigns from office

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): Governor of Chhattisgarh Shekhar Dutt stepped down from his office on Thursday. Earlier on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi also gave his resignation. The NDA government after coming to power had started nudging seven Congress-appointed governors to quit. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had said earlier that all the Governors, who were appointed by the previous UPA government, should resign. The Congress however attacked the government over removal of governors and said that they should be allowed to complete their tenure.

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): The Indian national returned from Iraq Zulfiqar Abbas on Thursday gave an insight into the situation of crisis in Iraq. Abbas said that the conditions in Iraq are dangerous but no Indian has been killed. He added that the Indian Embassy in Iraq is helping the stranded Indians to return home safely.
