Ludhiana, July 19 (ANI): Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Chief Avtar Singh Makkar on Saturday condemned the Haryana government___s decision to create an independent committee to monitor Sikh temples in the state. He said that the decision by the Haryana government was wrong and unconstitutional, and the fact that the resolution was passed as a money bill meant that the government is taking control over the Gurudwaras. Lucknow, July 19 (ANI): A leading women group, All India Democratic Women___s Federation (AIDWA), protested against the gang rape, brutal torturing and killing of a woman on Friday, whose mutilated body was found at a school in Uttar Pradesh. A large number of women activists protested outside the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat demanding the arrest of those guilty of gang-raping and murdering the woman. Reportedly, the woman was stripped and stabbed several times. There were stab wounds even on her private parts, the police said after preliminary examination of the body. Sabyasachi Panda sent to ten days of police custody

Bhubaneswar, July 19 (ANI): Court has sent India___s top Maoist leader, Sabyasachi Panda to ten days of police custody after his arrest in Odisha. Panda was produced in front of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Berhampur amid tight security on Friday evening where he was ordered to be sent on 10-day police custody. Acting on intelligence information, a police team nabbed the 48-year-old fugitive rebel leader after raiding a hideout at Berhampur in Odisha_s Ganjam district. Police recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from his possession. DIG of Police (Southern Range) Amitabh Thakur termed the arrest of top rebel leader as a major blow to the Maoist outfit. Police informed that Panda is accused of several heinous crimes, including the murder of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, in 2008 and abduction of two Italians in 2012. Pattnaik created the art with six tons of sand. The Boeing 777, on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, came down in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, near the Russian border, on Thursday (July 17). The plane crashed about 40 km (25 miles) from the border with Russia near the regional capital of Donetsk, an area that is a stronghold of rebels who have been fighting Ukrainian government forces and have brought down military aircraft. Shimla, July 19 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh has stepped up security in border areas with Jammu and Kashmir after reports of militants___ movement, said police chief, Sanjay Kumar. Director General of Police (DGP), Kumar, said that the intelligence input was passed on by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) authorities in Jammu and Kashmir. Kumar added that patrolling was intensified on the roads connecting Chamba district with Jammu and Kashmir to prevent any attempt by extremists to infiltrate. Chamba district shares nearly 200 kilometers border with Jammu and Kashmir and it is easy for the militants to infiltrate due to mountainous terrain. Tension erupted as two staff members allegedly raped a six-year-old girl on the premises of a prominent school. He added that no laxity in the case will be tolerated and the department was working systematically to arrest the accused. Parents assembled on the school premises and staged a protest, accusing the school authority of inaction. They alleged that school management was not addressing the issue with utmost urgency. Tea workers in Tripura imparted skill development training to boost production

Tripura, July 19 (ANI): The northeast region is one of the main producers of tea in the country. In order to give a boost to the tea industry in Tripura, a training scheme for skill development of the tea workers was launched recently. Implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation through its various training partners, it aims to provide scientific knowledge to the traditional tea growers as well as to those interested in joining this sector. The one-month long training programme imparts skills on various aspects of growing tea, including the preparation of nurseries, choosing saplings, use of fertilizers and maximizing the yield. Upon completing the training, the trainees will be awarded with a certificate from the government and National Skill Development Corporation, along with a monetary reward. The scheme is a part of Standard Training Assessment and Rewards (STAR) and was launched by the government last year to encourage people to acquire skills for different job roles. Women football academy in Manipur hones the skill of budding players

Manipur, July 19 (ANI): These young girls are sweating out at the Women Football Academy in Kakching to realize their dreams of representing India at the international platform. Established in 2003, the academy is run by Y Satya Singh and has produced several good players since its inception. The academy has a well equipped teaching team including several coaches, physical trainers and doctors. The girls are being given rigorous training under chief coach Ksh. Ibomcha and coaches Khetrimayum Birbal Singh and Moirangthem Nilo Singh. The academy, which has trained over 200 players, including 6 international and 20 national players till now, has some 32 trainees enrolled at present. The academy has won several tournaments including U-15 championship in Kakching, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Football tourbament in Thoubal and the 1st Subroto Mukherjee Cup U-17 championship in 2012. The academy that currently runs at the DSA Kakching playground is looking forward to have its own playing area. Jul 19, 2014

Protests erupt over rape of six-year-old girl in Bangalore

Bangalore /New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Members of a student organisation and BJP on Friday protested against the rape of a six-year-old girl by two staff members in her school in Bangalore.The crime took place on July 02 in the school campus during class hours and the child is now receiving treatment in hospital. Members of student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gathered outside the school and staged a protest, accusing the school authority of inaction. They said the government should step up their efforts and address the issue with utmost urgency. The girl was allegedly raped by a security guard and a gym teacher. Meanwhile, BJP leaders also protested outside the assembly against the ruling Congress government for its failure to take steps.
