Uttarakhand witnesses flood like situation due to incessant rains

Uttarakhand, July 19 (ANI): Incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand flooded roads on Saturday and interrupted Hindu pilgrimage of Badrinath. Weather office has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in the state for next three days, while the official machinery has been put on high alert. The state has been receiving intermittent rains since monsoon has hit the region. Meanwhile, director of disaster management in Uttarakhand, Piyush Rautela, said devotees were stuck at various places but necessary arrangements were made for them.

Fireman died due to negligence in Mumbai inferno, says wife

Mumbai, July 19 (ANI): Wife of fireman Nitin Ivalekar, who lost his life in a fire that broke out in a multi-storied building in Mumbai, alleged on Saturday that he died due to negligence by senior officials. Shubhangi, wife of deceased Ivalekar, claimed that senior officials violated fire safety norms and pushed the junior officials to douse the fire.

Bangalore Police Commissioner condemns rape of school girl, assures justice

Bangalore, July 19 (ANI): The Police Commissioner of Bangalore, Raghavendra Auradkar, on Saturday assured complete and speedy justice to scores of parents and other protesters enraged over the sexual assault on a six-year-old girl in her school premises. Public anger erupted after two staff members of the school raped the girl within the school premises. The crime took place on July 02 during school hours and the child, a student of first grade is receiving treatment in a hospital. Urging people to be patient, Auradkar said it is a condemnable offence and police officials are working on it. He also added that the accused will soon be behind bars.

Cross-firing hits normal life along Indo-Pak border, say villagers

Will defend Sikh community from Congress attack over SGPC: Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh, July 19 (ANI): Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said that Congress party has tried to make a severe attack on Sikh Community in terms of a separate SGPC for Haryana. Reactions pour in after Siddaramaiah found sleeping in House

New Delhi, July 19 (ANI): Reactions poured in after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was found sleeping during a debate on sexual offences against women in the Legislative Assembly on Friday. Social activist, Annie Raja said that the people who are supposed to see that actions should be taken and women should be safe are sleeping. Further, BJP leader, Nalin Kohli said that this shows that ministers are not serious. BJP leader Nalin Kohli has said that such statements by senior leaders are condemnable. BJP___s UP Unit President Laxmikant Bajpai stated that Mulayam Singh___s party is itself a supporter of crime with all criminal leaders in the front. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that although Singh is not wrong in defining the population he should not take crime so leniently. Parents protest against minor_s rape in school in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 19 (ANI): Parents in Bangalore took to streets on Saturday to protest against the recent rape of a six year old girl in a school. The protesters marched to the streets in a long queue and held banners reading anti rape slogans. Parents scared of sending their child to school demanded justice and strict punishment for the culprits as soon as possible. The parents, especially who have daughters expressed concern over the safety of their children and said that they are scared of sending their kids to school. Blaming the school management and entire staff for the minor rape they demanded severe punishment against the culprits.

Officials rescue woman and youth from floodwaters in Uttarakhand

Ramnagar, July 19 (ANI): A woman and a youth, who were stranded in gushing waters of a stream, were rescued, by a rescue team in Uttarakhand on Saturday. The state has been receiving intermittent rains since monsoon has hit the region. Incessant rains lead to overflowing of rivers and streams and resulted in floods in lower areas of Ramnagar town. The woman belonging to Sanwalde village was rescued after a long struggle with the help of a tractor.

Bangalore Minor Rape: Angry parents demand arrest of child's rapists

Bangalore, July 19 (ANI): The rape of a six-year-old girl in a private school in Bangalore has sparked protests by parents of the victim, accompanied by thousands of protesters in the city. A silent march was held on Saturday from Vibgyor High School, where the incident occurred, to a local police station demanding justice for the girl and swift action against the guilty. Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar assured to take stern action against the accused.

AAP leaders being harassed on BJP orders: Manish Sisodia on Dilip Pandey_s arrest

New Delhi, July 19 (ANI): A day after the Delhi police arrested Aam Aadmi Party leader Dilip Pandey and two other party members on the charge of promoting enmity between different communities, the AAP claimed that they were being framed. The three members of AAP were called by police for questioning in connection with pasting of posters in Jamia Nagar area of south Delhi appealing the Muslims to _gherao_ the house of three Congress legislators of the same community for _shaking hands with RSS and the BJP_. They were later arrested. Addressing a press conference, Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia said the party had nothing to do with controversial posters. Sisodia further alleged that police was harassing his party members under the pressure of the BJP.
