Speaker of Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan, said the wounds of the tragic incident of 1945 are still fresh, and urged for a war-free world.

Politicos react as SC gives 5 weeks' time for govt formation in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 06 (ANI): Politicos gave their mixed reactions after the Supreme Court gave a deadline of 5 weeks to the Centre to find a solution about forming a government in Delhi. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that BJP is scared of going for polls that is why it has been avoiding the situation. Three militants surrender in Assam

Barpeta, Aug 6 (ANI): Three militants of a separatist group, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), surrendered in Assam. The militants also handed over a cache of arms and ammunition to the police and paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Deputy Superintendent of Police of Barpeta Police Station, B C Nath said one AK-56 rifle, one magazine, 17 rounds of ammunition, one 7.6mm pistol and two Chinese grenades were surrendered by the militants. The militants have been identified as Rajani Brahma, Sanjib Basumatari and B. Brahma. Nath informed the police were keeping a tight vigil ahead of Independence Day on August 15.

Impasse over Insurance Bill continues

New Delhi, Aug 06 (ANI): The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) lent its support to the insurance bill, as the other opposition parties oppose it. An all-party meeting that was scheduled for Wednesday has been scrapped. The deadlock between the government and the opposition parties on the Insurance Bill remains intact. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that the party is supporting the bill as it is a good thing. However, CPI leader D Raja, opposed the bill. SP leader Naresh Agarwal, said that the stand of both parties on the bill is not clear. Mallikarjun Kharge, said that the party will take the decision after it is passed in the upper house of the parliament. Reportedly, the government is expected to take a final call on the issue on Thursday.

Amarnath Yatra enters last leg as 'Chari Mubarak' leaves for Amarnath

Srinagar, Aug 6 (ANI): The Amarnath Yatra entered its last leg as 'Chari Mubarak', the holy mace of Lord Shiva, today left for the 3,880 meter high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir. Meanwhile, lakhs of pilgrims have paid obeisance to the ice-lingam.The saffron-robed mace was taken from its 'Dashnami Akhara' abode at Budshah Chowk here to Pahalgam by a group of priests and pilgrims led by its custodian Mahant Deependra Giri. The Chari Mubarak will be offered prayers at various temples en route to Pahalgam, which serves as the traditional base camp for the annual pilgrimage.
