PM Narendra Modi meets with SAARC nation heads

New Delhi, May 27 (ANI): A day after he took oath as the 15th prime minister of India, Narendra Modi held "courtesy meetings" with leaders of SAARC countries. Modi greeted Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who arrived first at the Hyderabad House where the two leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. Later in the day, Modi met Maldives President Abdulla Yameen, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and Nepal PM Sushil Koirala. His most significant meeting was with Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif. The series of meetings will end with Modi receiving Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. Amritsar, May 27 (ANI): Indian fishermen released by Pakistan arrived in Amritsar and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their homecoming. Pakistan freed Indian prisoners on May 25 as a goodwill gesture, a day ahead of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to New Delhi to attend Modi's oath-taking ceremony. Fifty-nine Indian prisoners, who were freed from Malir jail of Karachi, celebrated the joy of homecoming. A released fisherman, Pappu, thanked Modi for extending an olive to nuclear rival Pakistan, which ensured their release from jails.
