Prime Minister Modi visits Australian War Memorial

Canberra, Nov 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi started of his day by visiting the War Memorial in Canberra where he paid his tributes to those Australians who had died at war while serving their country. He was also accompanied by his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott, where he laid a wreath in the Hall of Memory. Prime Minister Modi observed few minutes of silence at the memorial as a mark of respect and signed the visitor's book before he left.During his visit at the War Memorial to commemorate his visit today, Prime Minister Modi presented a replica of the Man Singh Trophy - a prized possession of Sikh regiment battalions - to his Australian counterpart. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott for summit talks following which the two countries signed five pacts.

PM Modi gifts Australian PM Abbot a memorial of John Lang

Canberra, Nov 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gave a unique gift to his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott, which has several documents dedicated in the memory of John Lang, besides it contained a commemorative photo collage showing Lang's remarkable Indian connection. The collage contains significant photographs of Lang which shows photo of his 'Marriage Certificate' with Margaret Wetter, Christ Church of Mussoorie, in India, on May 11, 1861, Lang's final resting place at Camel's Back Road Cemetery in Mussoorie, besides a picture of a 'Commemorative Plaque' in memory of a remarkable Australian's extraordinary Indian journey.

People from varied communities throng the Urs of Sai Ganji Baba

Jammu, Nov 18 (ANI): India, a country of varied religious communities, known for its religious acceptance and tolerance. It houses people from different religious beliefs who celebrate each other's fairs and festivals with zeal and enthusiasm. A similar example is seen during the Urs of Sai Ganji Baba in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, where devotees including Hindu and Muslims pay obeisance to saint and seek his blessings. During the Urs, religious scholars threw light on the teachings of the saint, while devotees remain busy chanting hymns and pray for peace and prosperity in the region. A free community kitchen is also installed where free food is served to devotees, who take the same as blessings from the shrine. The shrine showcases the mutual respect and brotherhood between the people of different communities, for which India is known in the world.
