CPI (M) to protest over squeezing of MGNREGA

Patna, Nov 16 (ANI): Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI (M), on Sunday said that it would launch a nationwide protest against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for squeezing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MGNREGA, which provides jobs for 50 million households. CPI-M general secretary, Prakash Karat, while addressing a news briefing in Patna, said the scheme was important for the poor. Karat said that MGNREGA benefited India's northeastern state of Tripura but if the funds were cut, 50 percent people would not have any work. Beigh said that he considers BJP as RSS and that in order to stop such ideologies from coming to the state, he will support Mufti. He also alleged that the NC cannot counter the BJP and thus his decision to join hands with Mufti is for the welfare of the state. He also expressed displeasure on NC for not inviting any leaders from South Kashmir constituency to any parliamentary or board meetings.
