Baloch remembers missing persons on Eid Al-Adha, seeks justice

Quetta/ Geneva, Oct 13: When Muslims across the world were celebrating Eid al Adha on October 6, family members of Baloch missing persons were protesting on the streets of Quetta. The demonstration by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons was against the enforced disappearances and killing of Baloch political activists by Pakistani forces. The incidents of enforce disappearances and extra-judicial killings of Baloch people continue to remain rampant in Balochistan. According to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, some 20,000 Baloch have gone missing since 2001. It alleges that over 4,000 Baloch activists are murdered in custody or target killed by the army. Faiz Baluch, the human rights activist and member of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons said those who are missing or killed by Pakistan forces were the peace loving people. Agartala/ Bodh Gaya, Oct 13 (ANI): Scores of Buddhists congregated in the historical monastery of Tripura recently to participate in the 38th 'Kathin Chibor Dan,' one of the main religious festivals of their community. 'Kathin Chibor Dan' means 'Offering of Difficult Monk Robe', an annual colourful festival. The festival is celebrated throughout the world within one month of the conclusion of 'Prabarana Purnima'. The robe that the Buddhist monks wear is known as 'Chibar' and it is believed that the donation of robes to monks is the highest sacrifice, according to Buddhism, and the occasion marks the most significant religious festival of Buddhists. He also added that this festival spreads an important message of sacrifice. Schools reopen in Kashmir as shelling stops at border

Rajouri, Oct 13 (ANI): Schools in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir have reopened after shelling stopped at the de-facto border between India and Pakistan. Schools along the border had been closed down amid continuous shelling. School head, Raees Ahmed, said that with the shelling having stopped, students are now coming to school. Meanwhile, a student, Habiba Kausar, said that peace should be maintained along the border so that education does not suffer. 20,000 Indian civilians have fled their homes in the lowlands around India's Jammu region to escape the fighting, taking refuge in schools and relief camps. Nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since security forces from both sides started heavy shelling more than a week ago along a 200-km (125-mile) stretch of border in Kashmir.
