Srinagar, Dec 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed a rally in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir. Modi attacked the current state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah saying that the government was asleep when the state witnessed floods. He said that he came running to the state and offered monetary help for victims after which some people showed distrust in government asking for direct help. He also said that he chose to celebrate Diwali with the flood victims and listening to their grief and troubles. AIIMS student hangs herself in hostel room

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): A 20-year-old student AIIMS student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at the institute. According to the reports, the girl was depressed over her relations with the hostel superintendent and other staff at the AIIMS. Victim's friend and family alleged that the warden and the class teacher used to torture her because of which she committed suicide. Students staged protest outside the director's bungalow on Monday morning. Police is investigating the case and postmortem report of the dead body is awaited. Dec 8, 2014

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): After a week of Parliament logjam, Rajya Sabha ended the impasse over Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's controversial remarks on Monday after Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari intervened. Rajya Sabha resumed normal functioning during Question Hour after the Government and the opposition leaders agreed to a compromise formula to end the protests. Following the compromise, Ansari made a fresh appeal to "all members of Parliament, ministers and leaders of all political parties to maintain civility at all costs in public discourse". Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu confirming the development said that the impasse over the minister's remark has ended after RS chairperson's intervention and appealed the opposition leaders to co-operate with the government. New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): Series of protests continue to take place across the national capital over Delhi rape case even as Uber cab services have been banned in Delhi by the government. Members of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) staged protest outside police headquarters demanding action against the accused. Brinda Karat after meeting Police Commissioner BS Basssi said that she was assured by Bassi in the case. Aam Aadmi Party members also staged protest outside the residence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded action over the matter and steps for safety of women on Delhi streets. Earlier, Uber cab services issued a statement, wherein it said that "what happened over the weekend in New Delhi is horrific. Our entire team hearts go out to the victim of this despicable crime. Will do everything, to help bring this perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery. UP govt suspends Noida Authority's Yadav Singh for amassing illegal properties worth crores

Lucknow, Dec 08 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Noida Authority Chief engineer Yadav Singh who was accused of amassing illegal properties worth crores. Few days back, the I-T department had recovered diamonds worth Rs 100 crore, Rs 10 crore in cash and around 2 kgs of gold from Yadav's residence. All tenders issued by Yadav have also been cancelled. The Supreme Court had appointed a special investigation team in monitoring investigations against Yadav. Reacting on the same, BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that proper investigation should be done of the companies.
