Uber Rape case: Transport Dept takes action after driver sent to 3-day police custody

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): In the recent development of Uber cab rape case, the driver has been sent to three-day police custody. The Transport Department has also taken strict action in the case by cancelling the driver’s license and taking action against the particular cab service. Special Commissioner in Transport Department, Kuldeep Singh Ganger, said vehicle’s registration has been cancelled and added that Uber cab service has been banned in Delhi. Dec 8, 2014

Chief of Kazakhstan Armed Forces receives Guard of Honour in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): Chief of armed forces of Kazakhstan, Colonel General Zhasuzakov Saken Adilkhanovich, who is on a six-day visit to India, received guard of honour in New Delhi on Monday. Adilkhanovich, who arrived in India on Sunday, was received by India's Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha before the ceremony. As per Indian embassy, inter-governmental commission was formed between India-Kazakhstan in 1992 and has been instrumental in developing bilateral trade, economic, scientific, technological, industrial and cultural cooperation. Coimbatore, Dec 08 (ANI): A three-day exhibition on contemporary work displaying a vast range of artistic practice left visitors spellbound in Tamil Nadu. The exhibition is unique as it displays more than 100 exhibits of nearly 60 talents from across the country. The organiser of the exhibition, Geetha Mehra, said that the exhibition covers a wide range of art works. The exhibition displays mesmerising work on various objects including paper, wood, bronze, plastics, broken glass and mud. The work of Valay Shinde, in particular was widely appreciated. Shinde's work was a tribute to those people who help society function smoothly but receive no recognition. Delhi court convicts four persons guilty in 1975 LN Mishra murder case

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): A Delhi court on Monday pronounced four people guilty in 1975 LN Mishra murder case. Mishra was former railway minister and was murdered at a function in Bihar nearly 40 years ago. The court has fixed December 15 for hearing arguments on the quantum of punishment. All four have been taken in custody. Over 200 witnesses, including 161 prosecution witnesses and more than 40 defence witnesses, were examined in the case. The accused had earlier approached the Supreme Court for quashing of the trial against them in the murder case. The apex court had on August 17, 2012 dismissed their pleas on the ground that the proceedings could not be quashed merely because they had not been concluded in the last 37 years. Dec 8, 2014

AIIMS student hangs herself in hostel room

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): A 20-year-old student AIIMS student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at the institute. According to the reports, the girl was depressed over her relations with the hostel superintendent and other staff at the AIIMS. Victim's friend and family alleged that the warden and the class teacher used to torture her because of which she committed suicide.
