Exiled Tibetans in India expect Obama, Modi to discuss their cause

Dharamsala, Jan 25 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans in Dharamsala expected US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to nudge China to resolve the vexed Tibet issue. Obama arrived with his wife Michelle on Sunday and were greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the tarmac of the airport in New Delhi as they came down the steps from Air Force One. Tibetans living in-exile hoped that both the countries can influence China to resolve the decades old problem. Tibetans in Tibet and in other parts of China have in recent years been protesting against Chinese rule by setting themselves on fire after pouring petrol over themselves. Meanwhile, director of Students for a Free Tibet (SFT), Dorjee Tseten, said Obama-Modi meeting was of great importance for them. In 2012, more than 80 Tibetans staged such fiery protests, according to rights groups. Most of them are believed to have died. Jan 25, 2015

New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama arrived at Hyderabad House in New Delhi for further rounds of talk for better bilateral relations between the two nations. Obama arrived at the venue to attend a working lunch with Prime Minister Modi at 1:30 PM. No press is allowed to attend this event which might follow a joint address by the two leaders. Dhaka, Jan 25 (ANI): Hundreds of working professionals gathered in Dhaka to protest against alleged "militant activities" by political activists during a countrywide strike and blockade called by opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). People in large numbers gathered with banners and placards showing photographs of a burnt bus and injured victims as a mark of protest. Chief of BNP and former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, whose party boycotted the election on January 05 last year, has demanded that Sheikh Hasina and her government step down for a new vote under a caretaker administration. Veteran film artist, Syed Hasan Imam, demanded justice for victims of such political activities. One dead, 15 injured in bus accident in Chennai

Chennai, Jan 25 (ANI): One girl was killed and 15 others sustained injuries when a bus turned turtle in Tamil Nadu state. A government bus en route to Salem district from Chennai toppled near Thiruneermalai town on the bypass road. The girl identified as Sathya Dharshini died on the spot.
