Exiled Tibetans in India expect Obama, Modi to discuss their cause

Dharamsala, Jan 25 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans in Dharamsala expected US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to nudge China to resolve the vexed Tibet issue. Obama arrived with his wife Michelle on Sunday and were greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the tarmac of the airport in New Delhi as they came down the steps from Air Force One. Tibetans living in-exile hoped that both the countries can influence China to resolve the decades old problem. Tibetans in Tibet and in other parts of China have in recent years been protesting against Chinese rule by setting themselves on fire after pouring petrol over themselves. Meanwhile, director of Students for a Free Tibet (SFT), Dorjee Tseten, said Obama-Modi meeting was of great importance for them. Obama reaches Rashtrapati Bhawan, receives Guard of Honour

New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): US President Barack Obama on Sunday reached the Rashtrapati Bhawan and was given a ceremonial reception by President Pranab Mukherjee. President Obama was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, with a grand welcome ceremony followed by the Guard of Honour, where the battalion was led by a woman officer. The US President also received a 21-gun salute. National anthems of both nations were also played to welcome the President.
