Women participate in Wrestling Championship in J and K

Katra, Nov 10 (ANI): Women in Katra district of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the 10th Rustum e Hind Indian style wrestling competition to promote gender equality. The organiser of the competition, Shiv Kumar, said that women should participate equally as men, especially in wrestling. Kumar further said that wrestling competitions should be conducted at every level with camps and proper coaching facilities so that more women take up this game. Meanwhile, the women wrestlers were happy and wanted more such competitions in future. Police arrest three accused in Australian woman murder case in Andhra Pradesh

Puttaparthi, Nov 10 (ANI): Police arrested three accused for allegedly killing an Australian woman on the outskirts of pilgrim town Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, said a senior officer. Superintendent of Police, Sriniwas Lu said Toni Anne Ludgate was murdered by the watchman of an apartment where she was staying. Ludgate was murdered by the security guard of her apartment complex with the help of two accomplices on August 28 as the guard was unable to return the rupees 20,000 he owed her. Modi's newly elected Cabinet portfolios announced

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted four cabinet ministers, three Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 14 Ministers of State in his first cabinet expansion on Sunday and the portfolios were decided later. Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is the new Defence Minister and Suresh Prabhu will now head the Railway Ministry, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government carried out the first cabinet expansion on Sunday. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who earlier held the Defence portfolio as an additional charge has now been given the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's additional charge. JP Nadda, who also took oath as a Cabinet minister on Sunday, gets the portfolio of Health and Family Welfare, which was earlier held by Dr Harsh Vardhan. Harsh Vardhan has been shifted to the Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Ministry which has been stripped off from Jitendra Singh, who has got Independent charge of Development of North Eastern Region. New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): The SandP BSE Sensex and the Nifty rallied over 100 points in trade on Monday, led by gains in ITC, HDFC, Sun Pharma, Axis BankBSE -0.90 % and Dr Reddy's Laboratories. However, it failed to maintain this level and declined afterwards to 27,818.23, showing a loss of 55.36 points or 0.2 per cent at 27,813.27 at 11.31 a.m. local time. Market Expert Akash Jindal said that sensex may cross 30,000 level as India is being seen as an attractive destination by the international investors. He said that India is more attractive for international investors than Brazil, Russia and China or other emerging market. Tribal community hold fashion show in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Nov 10 (ANI): The tribal community of Maoist affected Jharkhand came alive with a fashion show during their annual Sohrai festival. Tribals celebrated the annual festival with much fanfare in a village near Jamshedpur city which included a fashion show attracting most of the tribal youths. Repeated warning of rough weather irks unaided fishermen of Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Nov 10 (ANI): Fishermen in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh remain a worried lot concerning their livelihood as repeated warnings of rough weather by the meteorological department has rendered them unable to venture into the sea for over a month now. Sources from the meteorological department warn that a fresh low pressure is likely to form near the Andaman Sea between November 9 and 11 which may intensify into a cyclonic storm or severe cyclonic storm. The fishermen complain of not having received any kind of help by the state government. Earlier, cyclone Hudhud that smashed the coastline of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and killed at least 25 people, left the panicked survivors struggling for basic necessities like food and water. Pakistani Christians hold protests, prayers for couple lynched by mob

Karachi/ Islamabad, Nov 10 (ANI): Pakistani Christians recently held protests and prayers for a Christian couple who were beaten to death and their bodies burned for allegedly desecrating a copy of the Koran earlier this week. About two hundred people from the Christian community took to streets of the southern city of Karachi holding banners, placards and holy crosses. In the capital Islamabad, about hundred men and women gathered to express solidarity with the couple. They held placards and sang dirges. Smaller protests were held in other cities and prayers were offered in churches. Blasphemy charges, even when they go to court, are punished by death in Muslim-majority Pakistan.
