Govt. accepts CBFC chief Leela Samson's resignation

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): The government has accepted the resignation of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson Leela Samson. Samson had resigned following the clearance given by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film, 'Messenger of God'. She had alleged interference, coercion and corruption of panel members and officers of the Board who are appointed by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Latehar, Jan 17 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Maoist) called for a shutdown on Saturday in Jharkhand and Bihar in protest against the death of its cadres who had been gunned down during an encounter in Hazaribagh District recently. The shutdown had an impact in the Latehar District of Jharkhand, where no public transport or heavy vehicles were seen plying on the National Highway (NH) 75 and NH 99. Aviation Expert calls Air India pilot and engineer fight inside cockpit 'shameful'

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): Aviation Expert Harshvardhan on Saturday called fight between Air India pilot and an aircraft engineer inside the cockpit as 'shameful'. Air India flight was delayed by more than two hours after the two employees had a difference of opinion which ended up in a fight inside the cockpit on Saturday. The pilot and the engineer are injured. The aircraft is an A319, which is a relatively new plane. The aviation expert said that this reflects their character and that immediate action should be taken in the matter. Farmers compete to win bullock cart race in Visakhapatnam

In the Munagapaka hamlet, the village council called farmers to get their bullocks with the added incentive of prizes. Police tighten security near Taj Mahal after US warns of militant threat

High-rise building under construction in Mumbai catches fire

Mumbai, Jan 17 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a 42-storeyed building which was under construction at the Omkar Alta Monte complex, Malad (East) on Friday night. Philippines, Jan 17 (ANI): An emotional Pope Francis, wearing a plastic poncho over his vestments to protect him from the wind and rain on Saturday, comforted survivors of Typhoon Haiyan, the Philippines' worst natural disaster that killed about 6,300 people 14 months ago. Tens of thousands of people wearing yellow raincoats cheered when Francis emerged from his plane in the coastal city of Tacloban, 650 km (400 miles) southeast of Manila. Worshippers, many with tears in their eyes, stood amid puddles in a mud-soaked field as the pope comforted them. He said he "respected the feelings" of those who felt they had been let down by God because of the disaster but implored them to move forward in their faith.
