Sushma Swaraj meets Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

Beijing, Feb 02 (ANI): Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday met her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov while on her four-day visit to China. The two leaders held talks on bilateral and multilateral issues. The meeting was held in the sidelines of the 13th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of Russia-India-China Trilateral, which Swaraj will be attending later. The minister is accompanied by new Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruiddin among other senior ministry officials. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has made an exception by agreeing to meet Swaraj on Monday breaking the protocol. Feb 2, 2015

Badaun, Feb 02 (ANI): BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi caught herself in yet another controversy while speaking in front of her followers in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Stating her statement wherein she asked Hindu women to have at least 4 kids as right, she said that there was nothing wrong in it. Prachi said that she only said to have 4 kids and not 35-40 puppies. She said that people who marry Hindu girls for money are spreading Love Jihad and should be stopped. Church in Vasant Kunj area vandalized by miscreants

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): In yet another case of vandalism being directed towards the Christian community of the national capital, a church in the Vasant Kunj area of the city was ravaged by unknown persons, just five days ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi. According to reports, prayer items in St Alphonsa's church had been thrown around by the vandals. This is the fourth attack on a church in the national capital since December. Feb 2, 2015

91 children run away from juvenile jail in Meerut

Meerut, Feb 02 (ANI): In a shocking incident in Meerut city, 91 children absconded from a Bal Sudhar Grah (Children Reformation Home) during wee hours on Monday morning. The children made a cloth-rope and jumped over the jail's kitchen wall, the rear side of the premises, at around 3 AM which according to the District Police Officer (DPO) Yatendra Singh, was not being guarded by any police official since the wall was quite high. At present, 185 children were in jail, of which 56 had been shifted to Bulandshahr city and some more were about to be shifted in Ghaziabad. Superintendent of Police (City) Om Prakash Singh added that the police are yet to investigate whether it was a case of negligence. Feb 2, 2015

Snowfall in Kashmir bring cheers to residents

Srinagar, Feb 02 (ANI): Fresh spell of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir brought cheers to residents and turned the valley into a picturesque panorama. The capital city, Srinagar, received season's first snowfall which ended long dry spell. As per local media reports, the weather department has predicted snowfall during next three days. The minimum temperature recorded was minus 0.2 degree Celsius. Residents were happy as they said that the 40-day long Chillai Kalan, believed to be the harshest winter period in the valley, was over. Snowfall would bring some relief to people as health problems associated with dry winters would also end. Moreover, the snowfall would help increase water level in rivers and streams. Kiran Bedi's election campaign in-charge Narendra Tandon resigns

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): In a big jolt to BJP just five days ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections, BJP state executive member and Kiran Bedi's election campaign in-charge Narendra Tandon resigned from the party on Monday. The reasons for Tandon's resignation are yet to be known. Tandon, in his resignation letter to BJP President Amit Shah, said that he “could not tolerate” the way Bedi gave instructions to party workers. “Her (Kiran Bedi) aides used to insult me on every issue,” his letter stated. National cultural festival 'Maati Ke Rang' showcases India's rich cultural diversity in Nagaland

"Maati ke Rang", the five-day long cultural extravaganza that concluded recently in Dimapur city of Nagaland brought alive the vivid culture of India. More than 600 artists from all across the country performed during the event organized by the Ministry of Culture with an aim to bring together India's cultural diversity.
