Indian workers escape Iraq crisis, complain of ill treatment

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Indian workers, who arrived at international airport in New Delhi on Friday after escaping from Iraq, complained of ill treatment by Iraq administration and embassy. The fighters from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have advanced to capital Baghdad from new strongholds along the Syrian border. About 10,000 Indian nationals work in Iraq, mostly in areas unaffected by the fighting between the ISIL and the national army. DU agrees to scrap FYUP, admissions to start shortly

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): The Delhi University on Friday decided to scrap the four-year programme to go back to the earlier three-year programme, a day after the UGC rejected its alternative proposal over the FYUP to end the deadlock. The decision was taken at a meeting of principals of colleges affiliated to the DU that was held at the Indraprastha college. According to reports, the Delhi University has written to the UGC, saying it will start admissions under the three-year programme shortly. DU admissions: Students protest, go on hunger strike demanding VC's resignation

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Delhi University students have started an indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Delhi University (DU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Dinesh Singh and an immediate rollback of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Dhruv Sangwan, South Campus President from Indian National Students' Organization ( INSO ) said that students were suffering due to the confusion at the time of admission. Meanwhile, many protesting students and teachers have also gathered outside the VC's residence demanding his resignation. The standoff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Delhi University has resulted in an inordinate delay in the admission procedure. Lahore, June 27 (ANI): The US State Department has named a self-proclaimed Pakistani charity as a "foreign terrorist organisation", a status that freezes any assets it has under US jurisdiction. Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) calls itself a humanitarian charity but is widely seen as a front organisation for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), a Pakistan-based group accused of orchestrating attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people. However, Hafiz Saeed, who founded LeT and now leads JuD, lashed out at the United States government for targeting JuD in the name of LeT without having any proof.
