Panel Report suggests bare minimum standard of living: C Rangarajan

Chennai, July 07 (ANI): Talking about the panel report on poverty which raised the daily per capita expenditure to Rs 32 for the rural poor and to Rs 47 for the urban poor, PM Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan said that it suggests bare minimum standard of living. He also said that this is 19% higher than poverty line fixed by Tendulkar report for rural areas, 40% for urban areas. The report also said that every three people out of 10 are poor in India. Mumbai, July 07 (ANI): Maharashtra Association of Gazetted Medical Officers (MAGMO) members, who were on a strike since July 1, called it off on Monday after the intervention of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Chavan stated that most of the demands of MAGMO had been accepted earlier and the government is positive on some of the issues raised by them. MAGMO president Rajesh Gaikwad said that the organization is withdrawing the agitation on the assurance of the Chief Minister. The strike had paralyzed the healthcare situation in the state.
