Chennai, July 7 (ANI): Politicos gave mixed responses to the central government opposing the decision of the ruling party of Tamil Nadu to release seven convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Gandhi was killed in 1991 while campaigning in Tamil Nadu by an ethnic Tamil suicide bomber from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a separatist rebel group from neighbouring Sri Lanka. Twenty-six people were convicted in 1998 for their roles in planning and carrying out the murder. DMK leader, T. K. S. Elangovan, said the arrested are not the actual offenders.
