30 low caste families facing social boycott in Odisha

Rayagada, July 06 (ANI): For the past nine months, thirty low caste tribal families of the remote Paikapada village in Odisha face the humiliation of social boycott by villagers belonging to a higher caste. These thirty families who belong to Sano-adivasi (lower class) group are boycotted by the group Bodo-adivasi (upper class) which consists of 80 families. The Additional District Magistrate from Rayagada, Laxmikanth Behara, said that he has been informed about the incident. The group was boycotted for refusing to consume meat during the celebrations in honour of the Hindu elephant god, Ganesha. Jul 6, 2014

Gumla, July 06 (ANI): A village doctor, Raj Kishore Singh, was killed by Maoists in Gumla district of Jharkhand. Doctor's son, Deepak Kumar Singh, said the incident occurred in Mahadev Chutia village within Gagra police station limits in the district on Friday night. Villagers, though aware of the truth, refrained from speaking about the incident due to fear of the rebels and their threats.
