PM Modi an educating and transformating leader: Kiran Bedi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Former IPS Officer and Social activist Kiran Bedi on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on AIR and said that the PM is an educating and transformating leader. She said that the prime minister gave a very important message voicing concern over the 'devastating' drug addiction menace. After the third 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on radio in which Modi urged youths to shun drugs, Bedi urged the youth to use the national helpline and say no to drugs. Bedi said that the sale of drugs needs to be reduced as the money goes in the pockets of terrorists and ultimately becomes crime money. The PM also suggested launching a special drive on social media against the menace.

Cyclothon in Delhi, Car rally in Patna held to promote Clean India Mission

New Delhi/Patna, Dec 14 (ANI): Volunteers in New Delhi participated in a cyclothon on Sunday (December 14), organised to draw attention to the cleaning of banks of river Yamuna as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India Mission. Around 2000 people cycled around the city to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness. Director of UNDP India, Jaco Cilliers, said people can promote healthy living along with cleanliness campaign. Meanwhile, in Patna city a car rally was organised as part of cleanliness campaign.

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): A lounge dedicated entirely to Bollywood is rare in New Delhi and the newly opened Cinema Lounge in the capital definitely fills the gap. The Bollywood inspired club that was recently inaugurated in a posh market of South Delhi is divided into three levels and equipped with a projector screen that will showcase legendary Bollywood movies and sports matches. Spotted at the inauguration were Bollywood actors Rahul Dev and Richa Chadda.

Kailash Satyarthi visits Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi visited the Rajghat in New Delhi on Sunday to pay his homage to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The child rights activist laid a wreath and paid floral tributes at the Rajghat.Satyarthi and Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize for 2014 at a ceremony in Oslo earlier this week for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.

Mann Ki Baat: 'Yoga Day declaration a matter of pride for India', says PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stated that the declaration of June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations was a matter of pride for India. PM Modi was addressing his third 'Mann Ki Baat' on All India Radio. Modi even applauded the Blind Indian Cricket Team for their victory and appealed the youth to visit the northeast if they want to see the beauty of the nature.

Residents protest for not being allowed to cast their vote in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec14 (ANI): Residents of Jammu and Kashmir held a protest on Sunday (December 14) for not being allowed to cast their vote after being asked to show their identification card which they lost in the recent floods. The fourth phase of polling is taking place in 18 constituencies of the state including the main cities of Srinagar and Jammu as residents brave the cold to come out and vote for change and development. A voter said that even after showing the slip, they are not allowed to vote. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated, including Srinagar, in September by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Meanwhile, a planning officer, Masood Ahmad Khan said that they are just following the instructions given by the election commission. The voters were showing the slips that they had been given before the elections and were very angry for not being allowed to vote.

J and K Assembly Polls: PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed casts his vote

Bijbehara, Dec 14 (ANI): PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Sunday casts his vote in Bijbehara, Anantnag as fourth phase of Assembly Polls is underway in the state. Despite severe cold, people were seen going towards the polling booths and long queues of voters were seen outside the polling stations to exercise their franchise. Sayeed is a candidate from Anantnag constituency in south Kashmir. Talking to mediapersons, he said that there will be no coalition government, people will give decisive mandate.

Poorva Express derails in WB, one injured

Howrah, Dec 14 (ANI): One person got injured after the New Delhi- bound Poorva Express derailed at Liluah shortly after leaving Howrah station on Sunday morning. According to reports, at least 11 bogies of the train got derailed. The 12381 UP Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express was moving at a slow speed when it derailed, the officials said. The reason for the mishap was being examined. Train services on the route got affected after derailment. Officials added restoration work to resume train services on the route is going on.

Mann Ki Baat: Darkness, Destruction and Devastation are the 3Ds of drugs, says Modi Part -1

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday sought to warn the nation's youth against the menace of drugs, saying 'darkness, destruction and devastation' are the 3Ds of drugs. PM Modi was addressing his third 'Mann Ki Baat' on All India Radio. Urging the youth to give up this habit, he emphasized that drugs, not addicts, were the problem. The Prime Minister also had a word of advice for parents on how to save their children from the hazard of drugs. The Prime Minister also called for a "Drug Free India" Movement on the social media and stressed on the need to spread more awareness on the issue.
