No FIH matches in India till Pak players are punished, says Hockey India

New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (ANI): Hockey India taking strong action against Pakistani players who made obscene gestures after winning semi-final match of Champions Trophy against India in Odisha, on Sunday, decided that it would not host any event sanctioned by the world body until strong punishment is handed out to the offenders. Pakistan beat India 4-3 in a thrilling match in Bhubaneswar city on Saturday. After the win, players of Pakistani team took off their t-shirts and made lewd gestures at the crowd. The unruly behaviour was condemned by all and Pakistani head coach Shahnaz Sheikh apologised for team’s behaviour, following which the International Hockey Federation (FIH) refused to take any action in the matter. Meanwhile, security has been tightened for the Champions Trophy final match between Pakistan and Germany at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. .

Residents, tourists welcome snowfall in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Dec 14 (ANI): Residents and tourists in Himachal Pradesh welcomed the fresh spell of snowfall with much delight on Sunday (December 14). Heavy snowfall was seen in the hill towns of Manali and Shimla which are popular tourist destinations for Indians and foreigners alike. A resident of Shimla, Gulzar Ahmed, who works as a porter, welcomed snowfall as it will bring business to the city. Tourists were seen enjoying the snowfall and throwing snowballs on each other. A tourist from Punjab, Dimple Goyal, said the place looks heaven due to white sheet of snow everywhere. Located in the tropics, most of the northern India witnesses very hot summers and largely temperate winters. Minimum temperatures even dropped to sub-zero level in higher altitudes in Jammu and Kashmir.

Politicos condemn Pak hockey players as they shame game with obscene gestures to crowd

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Politicos condemned Pakistan hockey team for disgracing the game as they made obscene gestures towards Indian fans and media after their win over India. Soon after their 4-3 win, Pakistani players went into a frenzy mode and started celebrating their victory in a wild fashion. BJP leader Kirti Azad said that this was a shame and the International Hockey Federation should take action over the same. NCP leader Majid Memon said that Pakistan players should maintain patience as the same is giving a wrong message to public. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar termed them as undisciplined. RJD leader Manoj Jha said that it was shame and that the Pakistani people may not have liked the same too.

Rejecting the demand for sacking Transport Minister Madan Mitra arrested in Saradha scam case, Banerjee stepped up her attack on Modi saying that he should be arrested too. BJP leader Kirti Azad said that Banerjee has the option to move the court rather than defaming the CBI and central government. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that said that the CBI should work to prove its fairness. NCP leader Majid Memon said that there is no sense of such statements. CPI leader Atul Anjan and RJD's Manoj Jha also said that Banerjee should refrain from making such statements.

Intense cold wave disrupts routine life in northern India

New Delhi/Kanpur, Dec 14 (ANI): Cold weather conditions intensified in New Delhi on Sunday after light rains occurred in some parts of the city a day earlier and mercury dipped further due to fresh snowfall and rainfall in upper regions. The cold wave has added to the troubles of daily wage labourers and homeless people as they have no alternative to fight the chill and earn their living. Chilly winds have also forced people in New Delhi to stay indoors within the warmer confines of their house. Indian Meteorological Department, had said that the cold conditions will prevail in northern India, bringing maximum temperatures below normal. Meanwhile, poor visibility due to dense fog has affected passengers as trains are running behind schedule in Kanpur.

Japan votes in general election

Tokyo, Dec 14 (ANI): Voters in Japan headed for polling stations across the nation on Sunday in an election. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was said to claim a fresh mandate for economic policies. Voting, which began early in the morning has been cast as a referendum on his "Abenomics" strategy to end deflation and generate growth but some voters were dubious about the need to have elections so soon after the last one. Abe returned to power for a rare second term as premier in 2012 pledging to reboot Japan's economy, plagued by deflation and an ageing, shrinking population. But hopes for his "Three Arrows" of hyper-easy monetary policy, government spending and reforms such as deregulation were tarnished after the economy slipped into recession in the third quarter following an April sales tax rise. Recent data suggest any rebound is fragile and people are not feeling any of the benefits.

Azam Khan says UP governor Ram Naik 'like Ayodhya temple priest', Politicos react

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Politicos react as Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan said that Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik is acting 'more like a priest of the Ayodhya temple than a governor'. Khan said this at a public gathering on Saturday in Amroha. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the statement given by the governor was not correct. NCP leader Majid Memon said that Khan is known for making such types of comment, but the governor also should refrain from making such statements on the issue. RJD leader Manoj Jha said that it is the responsibility of the governor to take care of the constitutional things. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Azam Khan should try to avoid speaking in first place. He, however, went on to say that is Naik is interested in political issues, he should resign from the post of the governor and join politics.
