Canadian sniper breaks world record for longest kill shot

A Canadian snipers bullet traveled 3,450 meters—over two miles—and took less than 10 seconds to reach its target: a fighter for the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in Iraq. A member of Canadas Joint Task Force 2—part of the U.S.-led coalition that is taking the fight to Isis in Iraq—made the kill during an operation that took place within the last month in Iraq, sources told The Globe and Mail. An Israel border policewoman has been killed in a shooting and stabbing attack. Three Palestinians attacked police officers at two different scenes in Jerusalem. All three were killed by Israeli security forces. Both Hamas and Isis claimed responsibility for the attacks. A girl has been reunited with her family after being kidnapped by Isis three years ago. Iraqi security forces freed the almost six-year-old Christina Abada in west Mosul. Christina was taken from her Iraqi Christian family by an Isis fighter in August 2014. The family had been round up with other Christians when the militants captured Mosul. For the last three years the parents only heard rumours Christina was still alive. The girl appeared well looked after and was even wearing gold earrings. Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull calls Melbourne siege shocking and cowardly terrorist act

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said on Tuesday (6 June) that police were treating a deadly siege in the southern city of Melbourne as an act of terrorism in which a gunman was killed. The Islamic State (Isis) militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the gunman was one of its soldiers. A day earlier, on Monday, the attacker, identified as Yacqub Khayre, 29, held a woman hostage inside an apartment building in Melbourne. While the hostage was rescued unharmed, three police officers suffered injuries when they engaged in a firefight with Khayre. The attacker was shot dead by police.
