Village In Kerala Pledges To Donate Organs

Kochi, Nov 8 (ANI): The residents of an obscure village in Alappuzha district of Kerala have vowed to donate their organs after death, in order to set an example to others in mass organ donation. The organ donation move was initiated by members of a village sports club named 'Pranamam Arts and Sports Club', after a local died recently after suffering from a renal disease and could not be treated due to financial constraints. Though initially everyone was hesitant about donating their organs, the support of public representatives and political leaders helped the residents come forward for this gesture. The village is now referred as the 'Organ Donating' village. Nov 8, 2013
