New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Angelina Jolie is reportedly shelling out a whopping 12.2 million pounds to buy beau Brad Pitt a heart-shaped island for his 50th birthday. The 38-year-old actress was particularly excited after discovering the island's two homes were designed by Pitt's favourite architect Frank Lloyd Wright. India welcomes end of nuclear deadlock between Iran and US

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Union Trade Minister Anand Sharma on Monday welcomed the signing of the nuclear agreement between Iran, US and its allies, saying that it will bring peace and stability in the region. Iran and six world powers reached a breakthrough deal early on Sunday to curb Tehran's nuclear programme in exchange for limited sanctions relief, in what could be the first sign of an emerging rapprochement between the Islamic state and the West. Sharma, while speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi, said that Iran was a long-term ally and predicted consistent and strong trade relations between the countries.

Maoists make life miserable for children

Lohardaga/New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): These children in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district have fled their villages to escape forcible recruitment by Maoists. The rebels recruit youngsters to use them as human shields and informers against the security forces. Pinki Kumar, who has faced Maoists’ threat, says they are scared to return to their village as they fear abduction by the rebels. Parents of these children shared their horrific experience. Children are the main victims of the Maoist-led guerilla war in states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. A recent report by “Save the Children”, an NGO, has found that children and education are huge casualties in strife-torn regions. The report titled `Caught in Crossfire – Children and education in regions affected by civil strife’ was released on Children’s Day.

Bangladesh elections in jeopardy, political battle between feuding parties heats up

Dhaka, Nov 25 (ANI): Bangladesh’s independence war veteran, Major General (retired) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, highlighted the political conflict between the feuding parties, locked in decades of mutual trust, while ruled out the possibility of personal fight between the two. The stand-off between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her arch rival and former premier Begum Khaleda Zia, is nothing new. Recently, Bangladesh's main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) refused a request from the prime minister to form an all-party government to oversee upcoming elections. While talking to a reporter in Dhaka, Ibrahim said that the leading parties represent two different ideologies and different parameters of success and failure. Commenting over the current political scenario, Ibrahim said that rivalry and anxiety among the various segments of people of Bangladesh can pose as a hindrance to the polls. Calling for an agreement, Ibrahim urged Hasina to hold a discussion with opposition with an aim to end the impasse.

After Phailin and Helen, Andhra Pradesh braces itself for Cyclone Lehar

India and Bangladesh vow to fight militancy and cross-border crimes

Tripura, Nov 25 (ANI): Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir were in Tripura on November 17 to inaugurate the first multi-purpose Integrated Check Post along the Bangladesh border at Akhaurah. India plans to set up 5 such posts with Bangladesh to further boost trade and people to people contact between the northeastern states and Bangladesh. The Akhaura land customs is one of the most important international trading land ports in eastern India, dealing with around 4,500 people every month travelling between the two countries.
