Security forces to take on outlawed GNLA

Meghalaya, Nov 23 (ANI): Last tributes were paid to three personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) killed by suspected cadres of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), along the Indo-Bangladesh border in southwest Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, on 8th November. The incident is the third major attack reported in the region in which over 14 people have been killed by outlawed GNLA. The attacks are believed to have been in retaliation to the counter insurgency operations launched by the police against the outfit. On 3rd November, a group of heavily armed militants of GNLA fired indiscriminately at people in the remote Gendabari village in Assam’s Goalpara district.

Politicos on AAP sting operation

New Delhi/Kaushambi, Nov 23 (ANI): Reacting over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sting operation, BJP leader Vijender Gupta, on Saturday said that now that the party's wrong doings had come to light, the leaders were trying to shelter the truth. Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi, said that all the leaders of AAP should step down. However, Aam Aadmi Party Convener Arvind Kejriwal, said that the sting operation tapes were doctored and accused a political party of sending the stinger, after the latter denied providing raw footage to AAP leaders.

Bangladesh heads for total deadlock as political battle intensifies

Dhaka, Nov 23 (ANI): President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Md. Sabur Khan called for political consensus between the leading parties, as the battle for power intensified, plunging Bangladesh into violence. The stand-off between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her arch rival and former premier Begum Khaleda Zia is nothing new. While talking to a reporter in Dhaka, Khan said that there should be a discussion between the leading parties to facilitate free and fair elections. PM urges security agencies to step up vigilance ahead of 2014 Polls

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, urged security forces in the country to remain alert as there was a likelihood of attempts to disrupt the upcoming 2014 national elections. Addressing an annual conference of Director Generals of Police (DGPs) on Saturday, Singh said that security forces have to be careful in their response to militant attacks. Meanwhile, commenting on the peace situation in Kashmir that have recently witnessed an increase in infiltration attempts, Singh called for coordinated efforts to counter such efforts. Referring to the brutal rape and murder of a young girl in New Delhi that sent shockwaves across the nation, Singh stressed on the need to sensitively deal with the issue of women rights.

CCTV footage are being examined: DIG OP Mishra

Panaji, Nov 23 (ANI): Talking about the alleged sexual assault case against Tarun Tejpal, founder of Tehelka news magazine, Panaji DIG OP Mishra said on Saturday that the video footage are taken from the hotel and are sent fro examining the technicalities of the same. He further requested the media to be sensitive about the identity of the victim and about the details of the investigation. Mishra said that Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury is expected to cooperate with the investigation and a mail is sent to her fro the same.

Chief Justice inaugurates National Lok Adalat

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam on Saturday inaugurated a day-long National Lok Adalat where for the first time cases are being taken up simultaneously all over the country for settlement. A total of about 19 lakh cases will be taken up at the National Lok Adalat to be held in the Supreme Court, all High Courts, and district and taluk courts across the country.
