Maoists blow up government building using powerful explosives in Odisha

Malkangiri, Dec 24 (ANI): Maoists blew up a government block office building at Padia area of Malkangiri district in Odisha. The red rebels set the building on fire before triggering a powerful blast, causing extensive damage to the structure, there have been no reports of any injuries till now. Police said a combat operation is underway. In the meanwhile, local residents said at first they mistook the attack as Christmas celebrations but soon realized that the building was on fire. Maoists had blown up the new building of Padia block office in September, 2010, following which business was carried out from the old building that is now destroyed, said Police.

Days after Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, visited the riot-hit district of Muzaffarnagar, the dwellers at the relief camps presented a picture contrary to what political leaders had said. Languishing in makeshift tents without proper facilities, the people are a dejected lot. A camp dweller, Rahim Ahmed said they have been living in deplorable conditions and now do not even trust the authorities as they have not been able to induce any hope of normalcy.

Maoists hack two to death in Jharkhand
