Aim to level Indian economy with US andChina: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): After presenting the interim budget 2014, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the government aims to achieve a doable target of making Indian economy third most strong in the world. The Finance Minister appreciated his governmnet for keeping a stability in the economy and said that the last 10 years of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule have seen considerable amount of growth. Meanwhile, announcing the budget, Chidambaram stated that growth would recover to at least 5.2 percent in the second of 2013/14 from 4.6 percent in the first half. He said that their target is to move further from 5.2 to six percent.

Telangana bill to be presented in Parliament, Hanumantha Rao urges opposition to support

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): As the Telangana bill is to be presented in Parliament on Tuesday, with only four days left of the Parliament session, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao urged the opposition parties to support on the same and let the bill get passed in both the houses. He said that the issue of Telangana is an age old issue for the state and have taken many lives too. Rao also applauded the UPA government for pushing the bill ahead.

Nepal plane crash kills 18

Dhikura/ Kathmandu, Feb 18 (ANI): All 18 people aboard a small plane that crashed in bad weather in Nepal were killed, an army spokesman said, after searchers battled heavy rain and harsh winds to reach the rugged site one day after the event. The crash highlights the poor safety record of Nepal, where more than a dozen airlines fly to nearly 50 airports, many in remote hills and mountains shrouded in cloud and cut off from roads. All passengers, and a crew of three were killed in the crash on Sunday at Masine hill in the village of Dhikura, 200 km (125 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu, officials said.

Tarun Tejpal charged with rape in Goa Police chargesheet

Panaji, Feb 17 (ANI): Goa police on Monday filed chargesheet against former Tehelka Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal under new criminal law amendment act (2013). Tejpal is accused of sexually molesting a junior women colleague inside an elevator in Goa's Grand Hyatt Bambolin Hotel during annual think fest 2013. If proven guilty, Tejpal can be sentenced for more than seven years of imprisonment.
