Not Modi factor but service factor will work in Uttarakhand: Harish Rawat

Dehradun, Feb 2 (ANI): Uttarakhand’s new Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Sunday said that in his state, service factor will work only and not the Modi factor. Rawat on Saturday took oath as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after he was named for the post by the Congress Party. He succeeded Vijay Bahuguna, who resigned as chief minister on Friday.

BJP protests against death of Arunachal student

New Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): BJP leaders Harsh Vardhan and Vijay Goel on Sunday staged a protest against the death of a 19-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh, Nido Taniam. Taniam, the son of an Arunachal Pradesh Congress MLA, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, a day after being beaten up by two shopkeepers at Lajpat Nagar-1 market. BJP leader Harsh Vardhan said that he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister asking for better security for students from the Northeast. BJP President Vijay Goel also said that the death of an Arunachal student is saddening and added that the government must open counseling centers for the north eastern students.

Sonia, PM tainted in Agusta Chopper scam, politicos slams Congress

Kolkata/ New Delhi/ Pune, Feb 02 (ANI): After the Agusta Chopper scam brought in fore the names of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and other party leaders involved in the same, politicos slammed the party. CPI (M) leader Gurudas Dasgupta said that the scam reminds of the Bofors scam but involved more money. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that the scams and corruption is in the culture of the Congress. Meanwhile, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said that the probe should be done but the party will try to hide evidences as they did in other scam probes.

Gujarat model saying Rs 324 per month income not poor should be dismissed: CPI

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): CPI leader Atul Anjan on Sunday took jibe at the Gujarat government and said that the ‘Gujarat model’ which says that family with Rs 324 per month income are not poor and above poverty line, should be dismissed. According to the state government, a person who earns more than Rs.10.80 in village and a person who earns more than Rs.16.80 in city do not come below the poverty line. Congress criticizes Gujarat governments data on poor in Gujarat

New Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza on Sunday slammed Gujarat government’s data on poor. According to the state government, a person who earns more than Rs.10.80 in village and a person who earns more than Rs.16.80 in city does not come below the poverty line. Oza said that it shows the double standard of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and his party as they made a huge hue and cry when Planning Commission announced that people earning more than Rs. 33 in urban area and Rs. 26 in rural areas will not be considered below the poverty line.

Police arrest Maoists in Jharkhand, recover arms and ammunition
