The BJP chief was apparently referring to the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, over which the party and the state's Chief Minister and now its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has faced enough criticism. However, the statement made by Singh hasn't gone down well with Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, he questioned that why political parties remember the Muslim community just before elections. Singh said this as he laid the foundation stone of Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) in New Delhi. The Institute will not only have a multi-speciality hospital but also a medical college, two separate institutes of nursing and paramedical, a residential campus for students and doctors, an air ambulance unit and a 24x7 mobile hospital unit for the troops of central forces.
