Maoists hamper development work in Latehar

Latehar, Feb 08 (ANI): Recently, the Maoists attacked a construction site in Bariatu area of Jharkhand’s Latehar district. The armed guerillas not only opened fire and threatened the workers but also burnt down their equipment used for road construction. Road construction work has come to a halt as the incident has created a fear psychosis among the workers. The case has been reported at the Bariatu police station and police is investigating the matter. It has claimed to have identified a few Maoists. The vehicle can conduct various missions like anti naxalite operations, border patrolling, critical infrastructure patrolling like that of nuclear defense areas. There are 17 villages within this stretch, mainly engaged in agriculture. Earlier, the villagers used to face many problems in transporting goods and availing services. The construction of the road as well as 7 new bridges has come as a ray of hope for the people who are expecting their lives to improve now. The project has been allotted a budget of Rs 20 crores. The construction of the pucca road has given hope of better business to this group of students from Kherimiya village who started vegetable farming recently.
