Political parties rap Pakistan for latest ceasefire violation

New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Cutting across party lines, political parties rapped Pakistan on Thursday for its latest ceasefire violation, which resulted in the loss of life of one paramilitary soldier and left three injured. SP leader, Naresh Agarwal, demanded strict action from the government against Pakistan. BJP leader Yogi Adityanath appealed his party to treat Pakistan as an enemy. Delhi Metro train runs with door open, operator suspended

New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): There was a massive scare on a Delhi Metro train on Thursday after doors of one of its coaches remained open while it moved between two stations on the Huda City Centre-Jehangirpuri line. According to passengers in the coach, the train coming from Gurgaon started moving even though the doors did not shut at Arjangarh station. The matter was brought to the notice of the driver following which the train was stopped at Ghitorni station for about 15 minutes as officials checked the coach. Delhi has been under President's rule since February when Kejriwal resigned from the post of chief minister after his 49-day-old government failed to table its Jan Lokpal Bill in the state assembly. The Assembly has been under suspended animation ever since and no party has staked claim to form the government. BJP had won 31 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls of December last year but its number has come down to 28 in the 70-member house as three of its MLA s - Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma - were elected to Lok Sabha in the recent general elections. Kabul, July 17 (ANI): A fierce gunbattle continued between the Afghan security forces and militants who had climbed up a nearby building to shoot at the Kabul International Airport on Thursday. The attack on the airport, used by civilians and the military, comes at a time of great uncertainty for Afghanistan as votes from the second round of a disputed presidential election are to be recounted. The poll is meant to mark Afghanistan_s first democratic transfer of power. Officials said a number of militants had burst into a building just north of the airport but were quickly surrounded by Afghan forces. Kabul police said the airport was undamaged, and one police officer suffered minor injuries and it was unclear how many insurgents were involved. New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Indian workers who were caught up in the fighting in war torn Iraq arrived home on Thursday, while many others are still held captive by the suspected fighters of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Recalling his ordeal, a worker Hind Nath Sharma said that with the efforts of Indian government they have been able to come back to their homes safely. Expressing gratitude towards Indian embassy and government, another worker, who was stranded in Iraq, Ravinder Kumar said the situation has worsened in the strife-torn country.
