Indian Army defuses two live mortar shells in Kashmir

RS Pura, July 21 (ANI): Indian Army defused two live mortar shells in a village in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu city of Jammu and Kashmir. The explosives were recovered following the cross-border firing which started on July 16 when Pakistani side targeted an Indian post in RS Pura sector in which a soldier died and three others were injured. The Army_s Bomb Disposal Squad reached the site to defuse the shells.

Kids paint myriad hues of Ramadan in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 21 (ANI): Children in Jammu and Kashmir drew and painted their imaginations during a painting competition-cum-exhibition during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was organised especially for children, to know what they think about Islam and Ramadan and also to explore their creative side. The two-day event was held in Srinagar to know perspective of young generation. Participants made mosques, burqa-clad Muslim women, colourful sceneries, etc and came out with brilliant pieces of paintings. Meanwhile, one of the participants, Sehar, thanked the group for conducting the event.

Israel expands ground offensive in Gaza, kills at least 40 Palestinians

Gaza, July 20 (ANI): At least 40 Palestinians were killed on Sunday by Israeli shelling in a Gaza neighbourhood, where bodies were strewn in the street and thousands fled toward a hospital packed with wounded, health officials said. The mass casualties in the Shejaia district in northeast Gaza were the heaviest since Israel launched its offensive on the Palestinian territory on July 8 after cross-border rocket strikes by militants intensified. There were no signs of a diplomatic breakthrough towards a ceasefire, and militants kept up their rocket fire on Israel.

Patna police seizes money and jwellery stolen from Sadhu Yadav's house

Patna, July 20 (ANI): A sum of Rs 39 lakh and other valuables stolen from former RJD MP Sadhu Yadav's house last month have been recovered and three persons arrested in the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said on Sunday. During interrogation, Kundan Kumar Sah had confessed about his role in the burglary at the residence of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's brother-in-law on June 12. Sah's two accomplices - Santosh Kumar and Vikash Kumar - were also arrested from various parts of the state capital and parts of booty recovered from their places too.

FIR filed against Alka Lamba for sharing Lucknow rape victim's picture online

Lucknow, July 20 (ANI): An FIR has been filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Alka Lamba for allegedly sharing the picture of the Lucknow rape victim, who was brutally raped and stabbed to death, on a social networking site. Complainant Rakesh Singh said that this should be included in cyber crime and demanded arrest of Lamba. The victim was brutally raped and her body was found in Mohanlalganj area, barely 8 km from Jabrauli village where former US President Bill Clinton had paid a visit.

Dhaka, July 20 (ANI): Demand for Bangladeshi caps, exported to around 40 countries across the globe, spurred during the holy month of Ramadan and workers in the factories have been working extra hours to meet the production deadlines of export orders ahead of Eid. Caps with various eye-catching designs, made in Dhaka, are available at reasonable prices across the country. White, multicolored, crocheted and embroidered skull caps are popular among Muslims across the globe. Bangladeshi caps are exported to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, South Africa and other Middle Eastern countries after meeting the domestic demand. However, export of caps has fallen as China has overtaken the international market. Alif Cap Industry, one of the leading cap makers of Bangladesh, is doing brisk business as it has exported some 300,000 pieces of caps in last one month.

Lucknow murder case: Police arrests key accused, rules out gangrape

Lucknow, July 20 (ANI): UP Police has identified and arrested key accused in the murder and rape of a 32 year-old woman in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow. Addressing a news conference in Lucknow, ADG Lucknow Sutapa Sanyal revealed the horrific details of events. Police has recovered important evidence including the helmet of the accused. The police has ruled out gangrape and said that there was no sexual intercourse. The police said that she suffered multiple injuries which were the cause of her death. Both the key accused and the victim were employed in Sanjay Gandhi Post-graduate Medical Institute (SGPGI) and knew each other.
