Rahul Gandhi attacks PM Modi ahead of assembly polls in Maharashtra

Raigad, Oct 08 (ANI): Addressing his first election rally ahead of assembly polls in Maharashtra on Wednesday, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on having light moments with Chinese President, Xi Jinping, while Chinese troops were creating disturbances at the border. Gandhi was addressing the people in Raigad district. Modi during his speeches has mentioned about axing the laws which his government feels are unnecessary. Modi has also made a committee for it. In reply to this move by the central government, Rahul Gandhi said laws that were befitting the poor were being quietly finished by Modi. Rahul Gandhi said that by questioning the Congress government for the last 60 years, Modi was questioning the late freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Anil Ambani takes up Modis Clean India challenge, wields broom in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 08 (ANI): Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani, on Wednesday took up Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Clean India’ challenge and swept streets in country’s financial capital of Mumbai to mark his participation. Prime Minister Modi kicked-off his ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ or ‘Clean India Mission’ on birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 02. Modi had called up actors Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Kamal Hassan, actress Priyanka Chopra, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, yoga guru Ramdev, Congress party lawmaker Shashi Tharoor and Ambani to take up the drive. Accepting Modi’s challenge, Ambani along with other people swept a street and challenged nine other people to take up the drive.

AAP demands fast track registration of e- rickshaws in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 08 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party organised a gathering of electric rickshaw drivers in New Delhi on Wednesday to demand faster resolution to the ban on the vehicle in the city. AAP also demanded to waive off the exorbitant fee required for getting an official approval. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, said that the government should place the onus of registering various e-rickshaw models on the e-rickshaw manufacturers and not on the poor drivers. The Delhi High Court on September 09 had banned the plying of e-rickshaws on the roads of the national capital and said it will go on till the rules and regulations for them are outlined by the Road Transport Ministry. Recently, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways brought out the much awaited notification on e-rickshaws.

Thousands flee homes amid India-Pakistan clashes

JandK, Oct 08 (ANI): Thousands of Indians are fleeing their homes in the disputed Kashmir region as Pakistan continues to violate ceasefire along the border. About 7,000 villagers living around the village of Arnia area in Kashmir gathered in schools after five civilians were killed and dozens injured in shelling by Pakistani forces close to the border on Monday. Meanwhile, villagers from Samba region also fled their homes after cross-border firing started on Tuesday evening. In Kathua district, Deputy Commissioner, Doctor Shahid Iqbal, said camps were set up in schools for migrants. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday directed the administration to take all requisite measures for ensuring safety of life of people living close to the border.

Three-day long Global Investors Summit kick starts in Indore

Indore, Oct 08 (ANI): Barely weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his 'Make in India' initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated a three-day Global Investors Summit on Wednesday, inviting business leaders from across the world to invest in the state. More than 4,000 delegates from across the world are expected to attend the summit in Indore. The summit will also be host to 190 guests of honour and 28 state guests including ambassadors and country representatives. Addressing the gathering, Chouhan said through the summit he wants Madhya Pradesh to make an international mark.Day one was dedicated to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the state. Bottle crusher machine installed at railway station in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Oct 08 (ANI): As a part of recently launched 'Clean India Mission', railway authorities in Gujarat introduced hi-tech plastic bottle crushers where the plastic can be recycled and used again. In a bid to keep railway stations clean and recycle used plastic bottles, railway authorities in Ahmedabad installed the bottle crusher machine at a station. A ward assistant of Western Railways, Atul Tripathi, said this was the first time in India that such an initiative was undertaken. If proven a success, it would be further taken to other cities. The eco-friendly initiative will generate employment and also benefit railways, economically.

TV viewers could soon change service provider without switching set-top box

New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the ministry is working towards bringing a service for the TV viewers wherein they can change the service providers without switching their set-top boxes. After chairing the first meeting of the Task Force for Cable Digitization for phases three and four, Javadekar said that the viewers should get the benefits of digitalization, with high quality picture at affordable prices. He added that the ministry is also mulling to exempt the Free to Air channels from the restrictions of 12-minutes ad-cap.
