Bihar, Aug 21 (ANI): The voting for the assembly by poll elections in Chhapra district of Bihar has begun on Thursday. JD (U), RJD and Congress had reached to an understanding to contest 10 Assembly seats in Bihar together. They had officially announced entering into an alliance earlier this month. Gonda, Barabanki, Aug 21 (ANI): Floods triggered by heavy rainfall have inundated 30 villages in Uttar Pradesh, rendering at least 24,000 people homeless, said a senior official. Thousands were marooned in villages across nine districts of Uttar Pradesh, where the release of water from overflowing dams in neighbouring Nepal has added to the impact of the downpours. Meanwhile, the Sub divisional Magistrate of Gonda district, Jagdeesh Singh said that situation was under control and rescue operations were underway. Uttar Pradesh/New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): A lawyer from Allahabad city filed sedition charges against Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and senior Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah. India's Foreign Secretary, Sujatha Singh, was supposed to hold talks with her Pakistani counterpart Aziz Ahmad, but it was cancelled after Basit met separatist leaders on Monday (August 18). Lawyer Sushil Mishra justified his filing of a case against the two leaders stating they had breached the rules and regulations of the Indian Constitution and hence is a threat to the nation. Ranchi, Aug 21 (ANI): Tired of internal politics, seven Maoists surrender to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Chhattisgarh state. Maoists sent a message to the CRPF stating the various factors responsible for their surrender. They said that promotion to higher levels inside the Maoist organisations is only given to members from Andhra Pradesh. They also said that they were not allowed to meet their family members.
