Bangalore, Aug 19 (ANI): Youth wing of Congress party on Tuesday staged a protest in India_s IT hub of Bangalore, condemning controversial remark by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat sparked a controversy by stating that India was a Hindu nation and Hindutva was its identity, while addressing an event in Mumbai on Sunday. Members of Youth Congress took to streets and burnt banners bearing Bhagwat_s photograph. They also agitated against BJP President Amit Shah and former chief minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yedyyurappa.

New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Defence minister of India, Arun Jaitley, on Tuesday said the corporate sector should utilize the services of ex-servicemen to meet their requirements of trained and disciplined manpower. The minister was addressing the Director General Resettlement (DGR) Corporate Conclave 2014 in New Delhi, which was organized by the industry body, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with DGR. BSE closes points 29.71 up on August 19

New Delhi, August 19 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 29.71 points up to stand at 26,420.67. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 23.25 points up to stand at 7,897.50. TTK Prestige and Berger Paints were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 9.16% and 9.13% along with Muthoot Finance and Ashok Leyland with an increase of 9.11% and 7.39% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Financial Tech and Bhushan Steel with a decrease of 4.99% and 4.98% along with Prestige Estates and Engineers India with a decrease of 3.70% and 3.13% at the close of the markets. Court orders release of Manipuri activist Irom Sharmila

New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): A sessions court in Manipur, Tuesday, ordered the immediate release of civil rights activist Irom Sharmila, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act for the past 13 years. The 42-year-old _Iron Lady_ of Manipur was kept under house arrest following fears that she wants to commit suicide. She is being nose-fed by the state government at a government hospital, which was converted into a jail for her. The Manipuri government had slapped an attempt to suicide case on her. The court said that it is just an allegation that she wants to commit suicide, hence she cannot be kept under arrest and should be released immediately. Sharmila has been on indefinite hunger strike to demand repeal of the Act after killing of 10 civilians allegedly by the Assam Rifles near Imphal airport in November 2000.
