Air India has put 2 special flights in Kashmir: Civil Aviation Minister on JandK floods

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, on Tuesday said that the Central Government is trying its best to control effects of flood in Jammu and Kashmir. Raju said that Air India has put two special flights in Srinagar to speed up rescue work in the state. Flood Victims laud Indian Army for commendable rescue operations in JandK

Srinagar, Sep 09 (ANI): Thousands of people rescued from the flood hit areas of Kashmir, lauded the Indian Army for its commendable operation in bringing them to safety. Some 2,500 communities are destroyed or partially underwater, while thousands of people are stranded on their rooftops still waiting for rescue. Major flooding following heavy rains caught people in low-lying areas off guard and nearly 5,000 people had to be rescued by the army. About 22 Air force helicopters and four aircraft were deployed to evacuate the stranded people and to deliver relief. About 120 army units and eight teams of police reservists, equipped with boats and life jackets, were in action. At least 38 people died after landslide in Udhampur of J and K

Udhampur, Sep 09 (ANI): At least 38 people are feared dead after a landslide, triggered by heavy rains, submerged an entire village in Udhampur district of Kashmir, said a police officer. Nearly 22-23 houses were buried under the landslide. The administration has recovered seven bodies while 31 people are still missing. Additional Superintendent of police, Khalil Poswal said rescue operation was underway to trace the bodies or survivors from the debris. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew over the Kashmir valley on Sunday to take stock of the situation and said that the disaster is of the whole nation. SC adjourns hearing on govt formation in Delhi till Oct 10

New Delhi, Sept 09 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred hearing on AAP petition seeking to dissolve Delhi Assembly till October 10. The central government told the Supreme Court that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi had written to the President saying that the BJP should be allowed to form the state government and sought four more weeks over the formation of the next government. In a major blow to AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, the Apex Court turned down to consider AAP sting that BJP was involved in horse trading. The top court will take up on October 10 AAP's affidavit on 'sting' operation showing a BJP leader allegedly offering its MLA money to defect.
