Nobel Peace laureate Satyarthi celebrates Children's Day with slum kids

New Delhi, Nov 14 (ANI): Nobel peace prize winner and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi celebrated Children's Day with slum children in New Delhi on Friday. Satyarthi spent time with slum children and held long interaction with them. He shared his experiences of rescuing children with them. The 60 year old children's rights campaigner is recognised for his battle against child trafficking with Bachpan Bachao Andolan or Save the Childhood Movement a group he founded in 1980 after quitting his job as an electrical engineer. Children's Day known as "Bal Diwas" in Hindi is celebrated in India on November 14 every year on the occasion of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday.

IAF confident of rectifying technical defects of Sukhoi-30 aircraft

New Delhi, Nov 14 (ANI): Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha on Friday said the Indian Air Force have been able to pinpoint the technical defects in the Sukhoi-30 aircraft which resulted in a crash in Pune and the grounded fleet would soon soar above the skies. One Su-30 of the Indian Air Force (IAF) had crashed when both seats of the aircraft ejected as it was about to land on October 14. After the incident, IAF had grounded the whole fleet of Sukhoi-30 MKI fighters. Raha further added that they are going to start flying the aircraft in about a week. Meanwhile Raha said that the Sukhoi project with Russsia is a huge one.

Allahabad HC orders AMU to allow undergraduate girls in central library

Allahabad, Nov 14 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court on Friday ordered the Aligarh Muslim University to allow undergraduate women students in Maulana Azad Library, the university's central library. The court has also sought a reply from the varsity's Vice Chancellor Zameeruddin Shah who had recently stirred a hornet's nest by not allowing girls into the main library saying that they would attract boys. Expressing shock over Shah's comments, the court labelled it an issue of gender discrimination.

Two militants shot dead in Kashmir

Kulgam, Nov 14 (ANI): Security forces gunned down two militants after a prolonged encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning. Acting on a tip-off, security forces launched a search operation at Chounigam village in Kulgam district to nab militants hiding in a house on Thursday evening. The militants opened fire upon the approaching soldiers, who retaliated triggering a gunfight. Later, the bodies of the militants were recovered from the house. Tens of thousands of people have been killed in two decades of anti-India insurgency in Muslim-majority Kashmir, which is divided between India and Pakistan by a ceasefire line.
