Petition filed in HC for removal of Madan Mitra from West Bengal Cabinet

Kolkata, Jan 16 (ANI): Lawyer Subhrojit Bahaduri filed a petition on Friday Kolkata High Court seeking removal of Madan Mitra from the post of state Transport Minister as he is in jail in the Saradha chit fund case. He cannot also perform his duties as a minister from behind the bars, the petitioner said. Stating that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has not yet removed Mitra from her Cabinet, the petitioner requested for the court's intervention to direct the state government to remove Mitra.

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu meets Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi over varied range of issues. Gadkari said that Naidu discussed about converting two states road connecting Rayalaseema and Andhra Pradesh to a Highway. He also talked about varied ramnge of issues which include state roads and the condition of the same. Gadkari said that the ministry agreed on the same and the work on it will start soon.

Politicos react over release of controversial book on Sonia Gandhi in India

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): A fictional account of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's life by Spanish author finally hits the country's stores with the party mulling legal action if it found contents "objectionable". The book "Red Sari" by Javier Moro could not be released in India during opposition Congress party rule. The Congress said it would take legal action, if the contents of the book were found objectionable. Bharatiya Janata Party refused to comment on it. CPI leader Atul Anjan found nothing wrong with the publication of the book. The book traces Sonia's journey with information sourced from close friends and colleagues from her idyllic childhood to her passionate love affair with late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and chief of the Congress party.

New Delhi/ Moradabad/ Gorakhpur, Jan 16 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan accused BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj of throwing the large number of bodies found floating down the River Ganges. Khan said that according to his information, Sakshi Maharaj brought a truck loaded with dead bodies and dumped it at the Ganges. Reacting on the same, BJP said that the accusations have no base and that by saying such thing, SP is creating troubles for themselves.
