Special camps being arranged for people fleeing the border villages of Kashmir

Samba, Jammu, Oct 09 (ANI): Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have taken swift action to arrange special camps for the people fleeing the border areas as fighting intensified between India and Pakistan in the disputed Himalayan region, wounding a dozen along a more than 200-km stretch of border. According to Inspector General of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Kumar, security has been beefed up in the border areas and infiltration routes. Oct 9, 2014

Bhutan King and Queen visit holy Buddhist shrine in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 09 (ANI): Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his wife Jetsun Pema recently visited the holy Buddhist site in temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Wangchuck and his wife Pema planted a Bodhi sapling in the Sarnath temple of Varanasi and subsequently held prayers along with the Buddhist monks. A group of delegates from Bhutan also accompanied the royal couple. Another Buddhist monk, Bante Shivali said that people from across the world visit Sarnath which is spiritually significant. Kapilvastu, Oct 09 (ANI): India's UNICEF ambassador and versatile Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan, raised concerns on the issue of malnutrition in Nepal as he met health workers and discussed their grievances on his three-day visit to the Himalayan nation. Khan said that UNICEF was keen that he should expand his responsibility not just as a national ambassador, but for the entire region of south Asia. During his stay, Khan visited various villages in Kapilvastu district to check the functioning of health facility centres and initiated awareness on the issue. Among the villages in the Kapilvastu district, he spent an hour in Pakadi village health centre and observed how the health workers screen children with malnutrition under factors of height, weight and other measurements. Kanpur, Oct 09 (ANI): As customers preferred Chinese items ahead of Diwali, shopkeepers in Uttar Pradesh urged government to start making policies for 'Make in India' initiative to compete in the market. Traders in Kanpur said that to compete with demand for cheap Chinese lamps and lights, the government should formulate policies. A shopkeeper, Hanumanth Dikshit, who has been selling Chinese lights since 15 years now said Chinese products have a strong hold over the market.
