Three accused arrested in Gurgaon north-east student assault case

Gurgaon, Oct 17 (ANI): Three accused in the Gurgaon north-east student assault case were arrested by the Gurgaon Police on Friday. Gurgaon east DCP Nazneen Bhasin said that the police was able to arrest the accused in a very short span of time. She added that the accused were inebriated and violent and ethnic racial element was there in the attack. Three north-eastern youths were allegedly beaten up on Thursday by local goons in Sikandarpur village of Gurgaon. The goons tried to force the youth into drinking alcohol after refusing which they were badly beaten up. Oct 17, 2014

NSG defuses explosives found in Burdwan district of West Bengal

Burdwan, Oct 17 (ANI): Commandos of National Security Guard (NSG) defused over 40 hand grenades and bombs that were found in Burdwan district of West Bengal on Friday. A joint team of the NSG and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday recovered the ammunition in large quantities from a house in the district. Apart from grenades, the team recovered five socket bombs also from the house of one Rizwan Sheikh. This recovery comes after two suspected militants were killed and another was injured in the explosion which occurred on October 02 at a house in Khagragarh area of the district. The involvement of militant outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami are being suspected in the blast. New Delhi/ Chandipur, Oct 17 (ANI): India on Friday successfully test fired the indigenously developed nuclear capable sub-sonic cruise missile 'Nirbhay' at the Integrated Missile Test Range near Balasore in Odisha. Proving a host of technologies and bridging the critical gap in the country's arsenal, the missile was test fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur for a distance of about 1,000 km. Cruise missile 'Nirbhay' can strike targets more than 700 kms away. This was the second test firing attempt. The missile had failed in its debut attempt which was made last year. Security Expert US Rathore said that the test fire of the cruise missile 'Nirbhay' was very important for India.
