PM Modi arrives at an excited Varanasi, to adopt a village under 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'

Varanasi, Nov 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached his constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi for the first time after assuming the office in New Delhi. Preparations for his arrival were started days before as people seem exciting over the awaited visit. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will be in the city to welcome the Prime Minister. Modi is expected to adopt a village under the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'. Jayapur village, 24 kilometres away from Varanasi, hopes to be picked and is prepping to receive the prime minister, who is scheduled to make a public address there. The villagers also held prayers ahead of Modi's visit and thanked him for choosing their village. Water tight security arrangements have been made. PM Modi will be in his constituency for a little over 24 hours. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a Weavers Trade Facilitation Centre and a crafts museum aimed at uplifting the lot of weavers and craftsmen. Nov 7, 2014

India hits out at Pak for calling Kashmiri separatists as freedom fighters

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress hit out at Pakistan for calling Kashmiri separatists as freedom fighters. Commenting on Pakistan's remark, BJP leader Kirti Azad said it was a reflection of the frustration due to its internal problems. Echoing similar views, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country. Goa CM Manohar Parrikar to resign tomorrow, ready to be inducted into Union Cabinet

Panaji, Nov 07 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said that he will resign tomorrow after the BJP parliamentary party meet. Post the same, Parrikar will be all set to get inducted into the Narendra Modi cabinet on Sunday. President Pranab Mukherjee leaves for Bhutan on two day visit

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee left for Bhutan on his two day visit aiming at the agreement on Bhutan providing assistance in revamping ancient Indian Nalanda University. During a news conference by India’s foreign ministry in New Delhi, Venu Rajamony said one of the most important aspects of his foreign trips is to promote educational exchanges with foreign countries. Foreign secretary to president, Sujatha Singh said at the invitation of his majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Mukherjee would be in Bhutan on a state visit from November 07-08. Israel's former president meets Prime Minister Modi to boost bilateral ties

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): Israel's former President Shimon Peres met India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to boost ties and discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues. Nobel laureate Peres will launch a tri-lateral dialogue on food and water security involving India, Israel and Australia. Peres, who completed his seven-year tenure as president in July this year, would participate in the World Economic Forum meet in New Delhi. India has opted to buy Israel's Spike anti-tank guided missile, a defence ministry source said on November 01, rejecting a rival US offer of Javelin missiles that Washington had lobbied hard to win. India to discuss black money issue at G20 Summit

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise the issue of black money besides discussing the energy, security and IMF among others at the G20 Leaders' Summit in Brisbane next week. The G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled to kick off on November 15-16 in Brisbane, Australia. Sherpa of the prime minister for the G20 summit, Suresh Prabhu told mediapersons in New Delhi about India's agenda during the summit. Prabhu said to deal with the issue of tax evaders and black money it would be interesting to have discussion on automatic exchange of information among the countries. G20 countries have committed to present policy measures at the Brisbane summit that will lift global growth by an additional 2 percent over five years. Prabhu said there should be more transparency in the global energy mix and it should include renewable and clean energy. Prabhu also said India would raise the issue of reforming the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at Brisbane summit. Prabhu added that during the summit India would also talk on infrastructure, employment generation, changing the cost of remittances and environment and climate change. Pakistan rejects India's conditions on dialogue process

Islamabad, Nov 07 (ANI): Pakistan rejected Indian Defence Minister's tough stance on dialogue, saying it does not accept conditions on composite dialogue with the arch rival. Answering a question about Arun Jaitley's statement that Pakistan had to decide whether they want to be in talks with the Indian government or the separatists, foreign ministry spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said dialogue with India is not a favour, but a necessity for peace and development in South Asia. A day earlier, Jaitley had drawn a "red line" and said Pakistan had to reconsider whether it wanted to speak to the Government of India or "to those who want to break India." Aslam said All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders were not separatists, but freedom fighters who are carrying out their movement from an occupied territory. Nov 7, 2014

Traditional dance of archery attracts visitors to fair in Shimla

Shimla, Nov 07 (ANI): Villagers in Himachal Pradesh organised a fair to promote traditional archery sport, 'Thoda'. The fair, which was held at Raggyan village, over 20 kilometres from Shimla city, aimed at preserving the traditional sport. Many young archers were seen playing the sport during the fair and urged more and more youth to preserve this heritage. On the beats of traditional drums, people aim at each other with bow and arrow on legs. A traditional dance is also performed during the fair. Villagers believe that this sport was played for the deities. The elders are now training young people for this sport to preserve and promote it for ages to come.
