Indian security officials in civil clothes to strengthen connect at borders

Siliguri, Feb 10 (ANI): In a unique initiative, India's paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) (Armed Border Force) launched a pilot project in Siliguri in which officials would be deployed at Nepal and Bhutan borders for smooth transit of people. As a part of the project, SSB officials will be seen in civil clothes at India-Nepal and India-Bhutan borders to help civilians, who often get intimidated by seeing security officials. SSB Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Ranidanga Sector, A.K. Mallik, said that officials dressed in civil clothes would be able to establish greater trust among people. An SSB official, Shriparna, hoped that this initiative would ward off fear from civilians. The teams have been specially trained by experts from Ranidanga and Jalpaiguri sector headquarters to be empathetic to the civilians. SSB personnel have been instructed to speak politely to the tourists coming from the neighbouring countries as India shares cordial relations with the both the nations.

Politicos extend wishes to AAP on its landslide win in Delhi polls

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Feb 10 (ANI): Politicos extended their wishes Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party after the party swept the Delhi assembly polls routing the Bhartiya Janta Party and Congress. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad congratulated the AAP and hope AAP would work for the development of Delhi. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that the people of Delhi wanted to teach BJP a lesson for their arrogance and hence they voted for AAP. Leaders from other political parties also congratulated AAP for its tremendous win in the assembly polls.

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Congress leader PC Chacko said on Tuesday that observing the poll results for Delhi, leaders responsible for elections- DPCC Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, PC Chacko and Ajay Maken have decided to offer their resignation from the party taking their moral responsibility. He added that BJP leaders should also take responsibility of their defeat and resign from party leadership.

Delhi polls: Vijender Gupta thanks people, BJP after win

New Delhi. Feb 10 (ANI): Vijender Gupta, who is one of the three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders to emerge victorious in the Delhi Assembly polls despite the Aam Admi Party's (AAP) landslide march to victory, on Tuesday said this is a victory of the people as they had immense faith in him. Gupta, who won from the Rohini Assembly constituency, also said that this is a victory of the BJP. The BJP suffered reverses in the Delhi polls as even its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi lost from the Krishna Nagar seat. In a major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, the AAP won the elections with 66 of the 70 assembly seats up for grabs.
