New Delhi/Kanpur/Lucknow/Kolkata, Feb 28 (ANI): The government on Saturday hiked the petrol price by Rs. 3.18 per litre and of diesel by Rs. 3.09 per litre. A statement by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has attributed the increase in fuel price to the rise in crude price in the international market and to the depreciation of rupee. First India Nepal friendship motor rally flagged off

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28 (ANI): The first India-Nepal friendship motor rally was flagged off from Bhubaneswar city on Saturday. The rally, which will cover 3060 kilometres across India and Nepal over a period of 10 days, was flagged off by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. As many as 30 teams are participating in the event set to conclude in New Delhi on March 08. Rally Director, Praveen Bhanjdeo, said that the rally sought to forge a religious connect with the neighbouring country of Nepal. Both Puri in India and Pashupati in Nepal hold immense religious importance. Puri is regarded as the holy land of lord Jagannath while Pashupati houses the Pashupathinath Temple, a very popular pilgrimage site. The rally will trace the journey of Lord Buddha, passing through cities of Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Patna in India and Lumbini- the birth place of Buddha – in Nepal.

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday briefed the media after presenting the General Budget for 2015-16 in Lok Sabha earlier. Jaitley said that there was a particular set of circumstances both favourable and challenging at the same time. Jaitley said that 'one rank one pension' will soon be implemented. He added that the world was looking up at India enthusiastically. He said that the public spending on infrastructure has been increased notwithstanding the squeezing of fiscal space. Jaitley further said that the government is trying to exhort middle class from tax so that they can save. Talking about special status to Bihar and West Bengal, Jaitley said that same benefits will be enjoyed by Arunachal Pradesh.

TMC removes Mukul Roy from All India General Secretary Post

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): In a major party reshuffle, Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy was on Saturday removed from the post of all India general secretary of TMC. Roy said that it is the prerogative of party to constitute and reconstitute and that the power lies with the Chairperson. However, Roy declined the reports of him joining the BJP. Reportedly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called for an urgent meeting at her residence after reports of Roy's meeting with the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had surfaced. Roy was not present at the party meeting. Thereafter, Roy was stripped from the post of All India General Secretary.
