Politicos condemn Bihar CM's decision to appoint son-in-law as PA even as he resigns later

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday condemned Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for appointing his son-in-law as his personal assistant even after he resigned from the post later following the controversy. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that Bihar CM should give answer on his son-in-law's statement that he has had many benefits of the post of Manjhi. Party leader Kirti Azad also hit out at the Bihar chief minister. New rule for women boxers, doctor's certification in pregnancy test mandatory

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Nov 06 (ANI): A new rule has been imposed upon women boxers all over the world that they will have to carry the doctor's certification after undergoing a pregnancy test prior to participation in any boxing championship. The Vice President of Indian Orthopaedic Association, Tarlochan Singh said that this was already a mandatory practice apart from a certification from a doctor. He added that there was nothing discriminatory in the rule for India as the practice is applicable worldwide. Secretary of Sports Department, Ajit Saran said that the Indian sports federation cannot do anything about the rule as it has been applied by AIBA for all boxers. Secretary of Boxing India Jay Kowli said that there is no need to create an issue out of the rule because it is in the benefit of women boxers to prevent them of any injury if they are pregnant. Meanwhile, former athlete Sunita Godara said that in a sport like boxing pregnancy test being mandatory is a safe step and all sportspersons going through it is also a welcome step. Nov 6, 2014

Country facing troubles, Modi govt should appoint a full time Defence Minister: Congress

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The Congress on Thursday stated that it is the prerogative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi whom he wants to induct as Defence Minister in his Cabinet, while reacting on reports about a possible Union Cabinet reshuffle that may see Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar getting that portfolio. The party, however, emphasized that the country was facing problems in absence of a full time Defence Minister and therefore the government should give the responsibility to someone at the earliest. PM Modi debuts in Forbes list of most powerful people, ranked 15th

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been ranked 15th in the Forbes list of world's most powerful people this year. Russian President Vladimir Putin has piped his US counterpart Barack Obama for a second year in a row and is at the top. The list of 72 most powerful people in the world also includes Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 36th position, Arcelor Mittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal at 57th and Microsoft's Indian-born CEO Satya Nadella at 64th position. Devout Hindus take holy dip on Kartik Purnima in Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi/Allahabad/Hapur/Ayodhya, Nov 6 (ANI): Thousands of devotees converged at holy River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh to take a holy dip on the occasion of ‘Kartik Purnima’ on Thursday. Devout Hindus thronged river bank in Allahabad to perform rituals at the confluence of three holy rivers-- Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. In Varanasi also, devotees marked the occasion with religious pageantry. Another devotee, Sushma, said earthen oil lamps are floated in the river and prayers are offered to the almighty. Conference in Dharamsala stresses on science education for monks

Dharamsala, Nov 6 (ANI): A Buddhist scholar stressed on importance of modern education, primarily science, for monks and nuns along with traditional study, while addressing a conference in hill town of Dharamsala. It was organised by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives under its Science for Monks Program and was flagged off by the education minister in exiled-Tibetan government, Ngodup Tsering. The conference focused on ‘Harmony and Happiness’ and delved into Buddhist concept of connections. It was open to students, monks and people from all walks of life. Vyapam Scam: Digvijay to request SC for CBI investigation under SIT
