Alberta wildfire: Firefighters film post-apocalyptic Fort McMurray scenes

Firefighters filmed post-apocalyptic scenes in Fort McMurray, Alberta, on 5 May, after an out-of-control wildfire forced the evacuation of the entire community, including other areas south of the city. The Fort McMurray neighbourhood captured in the footage is one of many that have been reduced to rubble in the wake of the blaze, which left 88,000 residents displaced. May 6, 2016

Washington commuters faced delays on 5 May, after a track fire closed the Capitol South and Federal Center SW Metro stations. Federal Center SW station was evacuated following the explosion and fire in the latest incident on the WMATA. Man arrives in Honolulu after two months lost at sea

A 29-year-old Colombian man who had been lost at sea for 2 months arrived safely in Honolulu on 4 May, after he was rescued in the south-eastern Pacific by a merchant ship. He was spotted by a China-bound cargo vessel, the Panama-flagged Nikkei Verde, on 26 April, and was transferred to a US Coast Guard vessel off Honolulu, according to the US Coast Guard. May 6, 2016
